You do know where the U23s train right?
Regardless of where they train a manager has other things to do than to watch every game that the under 23 plays... I doutb that setting up for the last four game of this season that it was at the top of Klopp's list to be watching the U23s what with trying achieve a top 4 finish
And even so as I stated above Some player step up when the competition is more intense

If the manager hasn't watched a player he's considering, others will have. No manager can or would even try to do everything on his own, no sensible one anyway. And it's a nice bonus when a young/fringe player rises well to a challenge, but no manager with a grain of sense will base decisions on a maybe like that.

When you're in a hole, stop digging.

We'll miss Wijnaldum. He has his weaknesses, notably his mental resilience and overly conservative nature, but technically he's amongst the very best CM's in the world; extremely press resistant, sublime first touch, generally works hard, maintains possession and always available for selection. I understand why we didn't meet his demands, as we do need to start refreshing the midfield and signing a younger profile, but we will have to go out and spend a decent sum to bring in someone of Wijnaldums ability to the squad. It's a decision we have to get right this summer. If we sign another Keita/Chamberlain we'll be fucked.

Thats the big problem, Ginis ability to stay fit might mean we will need to sign two players just to replace him. Ginin must be in the top 50 players in the top leagues who rarely gets injured, an underrated quality.

Seems like he's going to PSG.
They've "swooped" in with an 3 year offer at double the wages Barca were offering.

Good for him, can't begrudge him that if it turns out to be true imo.
Always wanted to play in Spain France for a team with a long no connection with Dutch players. Respected bought team that is always competing struggling to compete with Lille in a strong shite quality league.

It’s all about his career development and nothing to do with the money, that much is clear

I think hell do well there, maybe PSG will unlock Newcastle FC/Dutch International Gini rather than LFC Gini. Either way they've gained a quality player. Also it makes sense that we let him go, the fact that Barca offered him more wages than what we were prepared to offer him and then PSG go and double that tells you were LFC is at compared to the oil-rich clubs.

Good luck to him. His looking after his future, and getting most he can. The club knew the risk that he could walk for free and theyre okay about it,so there has to be some maths there we don't get.

It’s easy not to get injured when you spend most of your time as an incorporeal being.

Agent Gini sorting out Mbappe.

Saw a funny video today with Greissman managing Newcastle in football manager in 2026 and he won 5 trophies with Mbappe up front. He tells Mbappe on a plane and he laughed and said ‘it’s cold there no?’
Don’t know if he’ll fancy the cold north of England even with Klopp.

Departing Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has promised fans an explanation why he is leaving Anfield.

Off contract at the end of the month, Wijnaldum is expected to sign for PSG when his deal expires.

He told Voetbal International: “I had to fight with tears (in my last game), because I myself did not expect that everything would be like this.

"I still have a lot of emotions, because I realise that I have already played the last match for Liverpool. Many fans ask me why I couldn't just go and agree to the contract that was offered. But, of course, this is not the only point.

"Things happen behind the scenes that I can't control, because I'm a player. I will explain this after the Euros, because now only the national team matters. I want to say that the staff at the training centre, club staff and teammates wanted me to stay. I told them more. After that, they fully understood my decision. This is important for me."

He didn't like the fact the club has proton packs instead of defibrillators is my guess

Who wouldn't be pissed off?
Gini is twice the player Ox is, and got a little more than half the amount Ox got.

Getting a bit fed up with this ongoing "I'll tell yiz all about it soon..." shite.

You're gone, mate. The vast majority of us wish you well and remember you fondly. You're making close to twice what you made for us... We all understand. Nobody begrudges you the choice you've made.

Now please just shush, and don't spoil it all.

He did. He wasn’t playing for us for nothing. The whole player x earns y is a shit argument. He signed a contract what he felt he’s worth.

I think he still was on the same contract he signed after joining us from Newcastle.
During that time a lot of other players got extensions, even fucking Ox.
I don't know what Gini was offered, but maybe it was a case of "too little too late".
Anyway, great transfer strategy again from us. Another player we got nothing for.

Sometimes that's worth it though with older players. You say yourself we were paying way too low wages for him, but somehow simultaneously think we are being stupid with transfer strategy. Not renegotiating his contract meant that we got his best years for less money, and now he'll make up for it by being a free. I tend to think the maths worked out in this case, but there's also the liability to work out. You talk about ox, who is the other side of this coin, a player on high wages who ran down his contract at another club. As wages have increased, giving up a free transfer is not always a bad thing.

At his age, with demands probably around 20mil over a three year contract, and no sell on value after that, you are much more likely to end up selling him again as a free, regardless. Who is begging for him at 33 or 34? Nah, they'll wait till he's on a free.

Then it's a question of who you should spend that money on. Hopefully we make a purchase anywhere near as good as him, and not the parade of misfits weve seen of late.
