Looks like Our "freshest" option. Not sure how Lallana is coping after been out for a while, but I assume both he and Can should be able to play this one. Leave Bobby and Hendo out of it as they have had a tremendous workload. Gini has enourmous capacity I read somewhere so he should be able to put in a good shift today as well. Maybe Moreno for Milner, depending on Milners legs. He has been working very hard lately.

Speaking of 10 men, when was the last time we faced 10 men or played with 10 men.

Probably when Gerrard came on for 30-seconds, murdered Herrera whilst simultaneously shoving Rodgers to his doom. Hahaha that was well worth it. The former must be back when we had Alonso.

If true that's a fairly big change that cos it changes the shape quite a bit. At least it does when I try to picture it anyway.

Can in for Hendo. Firmino out wide and Studge upfront?

Ming
Clyne Lovren Klavan Milner
Wijnaldum Can Lallana
Mane Studge Firmino

Yep, that's what I thought. It means we tend to play more narrow in the centre when attacking, at least on paper, meaning maybe more wing play & crosses than usual & less passing through the centre cos we'll be compressed there.

Although I think these things then get proven staggeringly wrong, reminding me why I was often shite at footy manager.

EDIT: just reread this when quoted on realised the wing play comment seems contradictory, I mean wing play coming from the full backs more often to counter the more naturally narrow attackers we'll have upfront.

Dont really like Firmino on the wing but the 3 upfront will interchange a lot anyway.
Can will be important today. Needs to be focused and not get caught out of position etc.

Can is either extremely good or average with occasional 'WTF?!' errors thrown in.

Unfortunately when he's not played for a while he tends to have a couple of games in the latter category before finding his feet again.

On the plus side he's relatively fresh compared to all our players & theirs too, which may help.

I know I banged on about it the other week, but Can has looked better in the deep role, he's looked more composed and found his passing range. When he's played further forward he's a bit of a headless chicken and either runs around chasing shadows, or he gets the ball and runs down blind alleys instead of just passing it. It interrupts our fluidity.

This might be good instead of Firmino on the left

Nah. We have practised the other set up for months, and we are quite good at it. Throwing around on the base set up this moment is not a good idea. Let us stick to what we knows best!!

Lallana's played wide too when we've needed him. He did against City didn't he? It's not radically different to how we already line up, Firmino just drops off the front line instead, Lallana's as effective in either role.

Whatever formation and system we go with should be more than good enough to beat this mob.

I trust Lallana can do a good job either place. But we loose some Balance to the midfield if we start changing around.

Any streams for this?
