thanks for the spoilers asshole
Oh, shit, sorry. Didn't even think about it. Sincere apologies, Modo. Assumed anyone looking in the thread would know already.

Again, sincere apology.
No need, it's alright.

Basically I was expecting something like "great fight tonight, Silva put in a great performance"
But your post started with "Fedor lost, arlovski lost".
I didn't' have a chance to look away.
You're totally right, of course. It completely didn't occur to me.

Let me get this straight Modo. You intend to watch a UFC fight on delay. You are on your favorite football forum, having not yet watched the fight, and you see that someone, after the fight, has posted something in the thread labeled UFC.

You then read the most recent post in that thread.

You then bitch that the person posted spoilers.

First of all it wasn't the UFC it was Strikeforce so I checked the thread to read if someone wrote anything about the UFC. Second of all I forgot that there was a Strikeforce gala that weekend despite watching a preview of it during the week.
He started the post with "Fedor lost to Antonio Silva tonight". Which kind of ruined it for me instantly and it was at 07.45 AM about an hour after the gala ended. I just got out of bed.

Of course I too have to accept some blame for this I mean it is a thread about Ultimate fighting.
So I'm sorry that I called him an asshole. It was too early in the morning for me and I was in front of my lap top without having my mandatory morning coffee.

Anyway Farky, why do you feel the need to start this again....you asshole.

I didn't think it was particularly bad to have posted the blatant spoiler, for the reasons the Fark listed, but I honestly admit that it never occurred to me one way or the other. Regardless of blame, responsibility, or whatever, I inadvertently ruined someone's experience. I've got thicker skin than to take offense over being called an asshole.

I'm not worried about it. Maybe next time I'll think a little more before clicking "post" and maybe others will think a little more before entering a potentially spoiler-containing thread. Meh. Much ado over nothing.

Can we please get back to the original discussion here?

Btw darkstarexodus if you really live in Canada, you must be looking forward to the gala in Toronto.
UFC 129?

Wish I had a ticket and that I lived in Canada.

What a fight card!

GSP v Shields
Machida v Couture
Aldo v Someone...

What do you think about GSP fighting in Canada again?
Personally I think it gives him an advantage. It's hard enough trying to take the belt from him but to do it in Canada...
I know it's about marketing but isn't Canada or Toronto already the "Mecca" of MMA?

I thought darkstar was talking about Anderson Silva ?

Is there a Antonio Silva ?

And, Modo, chill dude.

Answer my "Silva" question then, asshole !

*joke*
I didn't know that the question was directed at me.

Anyway he's a big ugly cro-magnon looking Brazilian who will probably become the best heavy weight fighter in the world. At least he's got the potential.
First he has to get past some tough opponents in the heavy weight tournament in strikeforce.

Btw you should know by now that calling me an asshole is a compliment. That's my way of life.

I do think GSP fighting in Canada gives him an advantage and isn't really fair. On the other hand, it creates such a media sensation and causes such publicity for the sport that it's hard not to think of it as a good thing.

To be honest though, I don't think the fight card for 129 is all that exciting. A GSP fight and a Couture fight as the two main events means a lot of risk-free grappling and likely two decisions. I am still thinking about going but the price of scalper tickets is putting me off a bit. I paid over $400 to see Machinda-Shogun 2 in Montreal and it might take double that to get decent seats in Toronto. (Also, I'm supposed to be in Liverpool the weekend before because I have a ticket to the game against Birmingham and I certainly can't do both trips. I need to figure it out soon.)

Come to think of it...
GSP v Shields = tactician vs Ju jitsu practioner

Machida v Couture = Counter striker vs Wrestler

Yeah it looks like it will be bore fest 2011, hope I'm wrong.

400 for a ticket???!!
That's outrageous.
Skip that shit.
It's better on the telly. You can barely see anything live anyway.

I enjoyed seeing a UFC card live, for the experience, but you're right that you don't have as good a view as on TV. Right now a few of my friends are going to the show in Toronto and I'm still up in the air about it, mostly due to the ticket price. For seats in the 100 level I think it will cost $600-1000, which is outrageous. The atmosphere of the show and the buzz in the city will be great but is it really worth anywhere near that? Not really. If it was a card I was really excited about I would probably do it...

(I've got a friend who routinely gets floor tickets at events and I think has been to every Canadian event so far as well as a dozen or more in Vegas. He's also spent $300/hr to roll and train with Wanderlei Silva on a couple occasions too. I didn't even believe him until he showed me videos. Needless to say he's a bit obsessed. He also likes to put people in chokes unexpectedly while drinking.)

After the Montreal show, I met Koscheck + Arianny at an afterparty. Koscheck was surprisingly cool (this was after the Daley victory, not the GSP loss) and Arianny was nice and down to earth. Pics on Facebook for those that have me as a friend.

Reminds me of my friends. I've noticed that wrestlers, BJJ practitioners etc are really "grabby" I don't mean in a good way. Friends of mine are always trying to show the new grip they learned or take down or whatever, it's freakin annoying. Makes me think of that South park episode where Mr Slave was reminiscing about his childhood and getting pinned down "willingly" by his bullies.
One time I was at a club talking to this mma chick and the first thing she did was try to choke me out. Of course I had to straighten her out afterwards. I am a man after all.

I agree the experience is great especially if you're in Vegas I mean it's Sin City after all. Pay that much to watch it in my home town of Stockholm, hell no. Peer pressure is a bitch though.
Anyway I don't now if you're financially sound but I wouldn't pay that much for an MMA event.
I remember paying about $150 to watch my first Liverpool game, found out later on that tickets usually cost about $50-80 and I almost cried.

I'd love to see a show in Vegas because I've never been there (was supposed to go last August but ended up flying to an aboriginal reserve up north to give a presentation on narcotic abuse [oh, the irony!] instead). Probably sometime in the next year, I will.

I'm doing well enough that I can afford the ticket price without worrying much about it but it's still more than I would like to pay for a card that I'm not that excited about.

Agree 100% about the combat sport guys getting "grabby". I'm not a fan of it. Different if I'm being taught a technique at someone's place but getting rear-naked choked outside a club isn't my idea of fun.

I don't know what the opinion about Bisping is around here, but I intensely dislike him and was very displeased to see him win. I was over the moon when Dan Henderson nearly punched his face off a few years ago. Would definitely like to see that again. He just has too high an opinion of himself and I enjoy seeing people like that be humbled. It's fine on a person like Anderson Silva, who has actually destroyed almost everyone that has ever come up against him, but Bisping? What universe are you living in?

I think Bisping is quite a good (and possibly even underrated, by others, not by himself certainly) fighter. But his ego is so overblown and he is not at the level that he thinks he is. He's also a twat with the trashtalking and then complains when others trashtalk him. If he'd just shut up and fight I'd probably like him but he won't, so I don't.

being confident as a fighter is a must. But his is not confidence; it's delusional hubris, and it's fucking annoying.

Americans tend to hate Bisping becuase he's English. I don't see any other reason.
Sure, he can be overconfident at times but that's not exactly rare in MMA.

Rivera deserved to be knocked out for those outlandish videos he and his camp put up on Youtube mocking Bisping. I mean come on, calling him a bitch?
He crossed the line and deservedly got his ass whipped.

Yep.

I don't think they get some of his humour/sarcasm.

I have tended to think he was more misunderstood than anything (and I agree about the anti-English, American bias) but Bisping was a thundercunt after the Rivera fight.

I have to agree. Acted like a proper cunt afterwards.
