Davies getting sold ? He has not even played for us, and I said to @gkmacca that he was going to be a legend for us !!! Fucker aint gonna play 10 mins for us ? I just dont get it, how is he gonna live upto my expectations?
Davis like Robertson did has to get use to the PL pace

Arf. Reminds me of the time just after Adrian helped us win the Club World Cup and someone said "If selected" (in jest I'm sure) in a thread about Alisson's return.

I hope we sign him. I feel he's at Lovren's level already and he's only 20 years old. I know it's hard to predict what happens in football, however, we could be getting a very solid CB for years, and there's lots of room for his development further. He's a self-confessed Liverpool fan, so say he signs at least 2 contracts here then you're looking at 2 million a year for what he brings to the side. That's peanuts, even for FSG.

You gotta sign him - it's a snip @ 18 million, and worst case scenario? We sell him for 25-35 in a 'post corona' world in 1-2 years.

Not sure if it's right to think/feel like this, but I'm partly "happy" that we are "ruthless" enough not to commit ourselves to signing a player who we don't "really want".

How would you develop him with 7 other CBs in the first team? 18 mill is a bit much in the current financial climate for a player to either loan out or be on the fringes of the first team.

Long term Matip is finished and VvD has sadly probably peaked. £18m for a quality 20 year old CB is peanuts, we've just paid double that for a guy who managed 20 odd games in the last 2 seasons.

I'd sign him and let him battle it out with Konate and Gomez. Matip is a superb defender but he's unfortunately shot physically, we should move him on, sell Davies and send Rhys and Sepp VdB on loan.

That leaves us with Virgil and Gomez who have yet to fully recover from long term injuries and cannot be rushed back, plus Konate Phillips and Kabak.

We don't know what will happen with VVD and Gomez recoveries. Matip is done.
We signed a lad who also has some injury history recently.

We might be revisiting last seasons risky center back strategies.

So Klopp is simply dead wrong? Knows everything that you just wrote, has seen him in training every day, has budget, and just went “nah this inferior injured dude”.

Out of interest, what is the reason Kabak hasn’t been selected for the last few weeks?

Might as well shut the site down then, no further discussions required the manager/club is always right.

He was injured. Another sacrifice to our CB curse.

Nope. I’m just asking you is that what you’re saying? In this case the manager is dead wrong, plain mistaken, and you don’t trust his judgement? Because that does appear to be what you’re saying. Plus I’m also pointing out that you seem to be conveniently ignoring that in his short time with us Kabak hasn’t exactly been blemish free on the injury front, which seems to have escaped your analysis....

There's a huge difference between the long term impact of a knock that keeps a player out for 2 weeks versus an ACL reconstruction that takes a player out for the season and often never allows them to reach the same level again.

Gomez has a decent chance of a full recovery because he's young. Virgil is 30 in a couple of weeks and it's his second major knee problem we just don't know what level he's going to get back to.

Where as Matip unfortunately just seems to have reached a point where he's not able to play a run of games consistently without breaking down.Theres nothing controversial about this, we seen it before with Sturridge.

Would be 3rd/4th/5th choice along with Gomez and Phillips, as Matip is moved on.

Konate VVD
Gomez Kabak Phillips

With the injury concerns, we need that.
