There were loads groups of scalls gradually turning up who had none or very little interest in the club or celebrating.
I suggested we got off into town about midnight cos I suspected there'd be trouble as you could see them turning up in greater numbers as the night wore on.
Anfield is literally one of the poorest & roughest areas of Liverpool, the teenagers round there don't need much excuse to be cunts.
What I heard was it was all a laugh till about one, there were loads of police who were just watching, they must have got an order to disperse and as soon as they did stuff started getting thrown and it turned a bit moody. My son and his mates didn't wait to find out what happened next and left.
The news on the night reported a dispersal zone around Anfield at about 10. That usually means that the police have power to disperse from then on so it's pretty standard that they let the fans get on with it until they start to sense trouble and see other people showing up who aren't there just to celebrate.
It's a shame but it's gonna happen, and it would happen pretty much anywhere

I think the police must have got loads of shit off the locals after the first celebration as it went on until five a.m. so they probs thought they'd break it up at one this time, which seems like a decent compromise and fair enough.

There were lines of bissies around the ground, but they just stood there letting you through, notably looking at who was coming through rather than what was going on behind them.
As I said, you could see ever increasing amounts of nobs who didn't look like they had any real celebrating in mind whatsoever.
If the bitters had any kind of sense they'd have thrown a 'fuck the reds' rave whilst the police were all at Anfield.
