Reports in Italy claim Liverpool made an enquiry for Trezeguet after allowing Alberto Aquilani to join Juve on loan.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and he is believed to be considering a swoop for French international Trezeguet.

Trezeguet's future at Juve has been the subject of speculation for some time with the Frenchman dropping down the pecking order at the Bianconeri.

The player's agent, Antonio Caliendo, admits Liverpool and Spanish duo Real Zaragoza and Hercules are chasing Trezeguet's signature.

"An interest of Liverpool? There are requests, not just of Liverpool," Caliendo told calciomercato.it.

"In Spain there is the interest of Real Zaragoza and Hercules.

"We are considering [offers], today is a day of reflection, we will know more tomorrow."

Who wants him here? Great goalscorer but I never really liked him as a player. I think he'll be shit in England. He's also 33 now. Thoughts?

Fucking 10 years too late for that deal. Which means he's probably coming.

He's too old for Italy FFS!!

His stat's speak for themselves but has he done much in the last few years? Pushing on a bit and probably not the player we need right now.

Adequate back up for torres

if the price is right, why not? (besides him being old)

If and when Torres next gets injured, who would you prefer leading the line, N'Gog or Trezeguet?

Experience in our squad is always a good thing.. N'gog and Pacheco can learn fuck loads from Trezeguet.. and he's chip in with enough goals

gary mac was hardly a has been (when we were linked with him)

Trezeguet's goalscoring stats from the last three seasons - 18, 8 (was injured for most of the season), 36. I had the impression of him as a has-been too. Maybe we should revise that?

I'll take him as a squad player only. We're skint so he'll do and at least offer an aerial threat.

This could be a very good move for us. It would be a short term signing and we would be getting a proven and very experienced goalscorer who wouldn't be fazed having to stand in for Torres or when coming on late in a match. It also means that, pending a take-over of the club, we have adequate cover without splashing out on a someone who would be a gamble (Toivonen, Remy etc), thereby enabling us to go for a higher quality striker when the money is available.

Not convinced, not by a long way. Trezeguet himself will be a gamble. His scoring record in Italy is amazing but I don't think he'll be suited to the Prem at all.

I would suggest at the age of 35 and on Bosman that is exactly what he was considered

well, not by me. I wasn't 'overjoyed' but I didn't think he was a has-been.

I'd suggest you were in a very small minority then, certainly as far as Gary Mac playing at the top level was concerned.

Hang on........ is spider actually saying that a 35 year old scot is not classed as a has been?

No one could have predicted how important he was. Far as i was concerned he was washed up!

For every Gary Mac, there's a Pellegrini, Riedle, Zenden, Litmanen etc, all players brought in past their best that were either average or flops.
Much like Morientes, for all Trezeguet's aerial and goal scoring ability, he will not fancy the pace and physicallity of the EPL, especially at his age.

You are right, but that is not to say we can't get something out of an over the hill player ever again.

+1.

This transfer is about 5 years too late.

I'm concerned that we've already signed Trezeguet and he's masquerading as N'gog! Although this could explain 4 goals from N'gog already.

I haven't seen him for a few years properly but I would say he's a natural finisher who doesn't need pace to get the goals.

If he's dirt cheap then why not?

Veteran French striker David Trezeguet is wanted by Liverpool according to his agent while reports in Italy suggest that the 32-year-old could leave Juventus in a swap deal involving Anfield defenders Emiliano Insua and Sotiris Kyrgiakos .

Trezeguet is under contract with Juventus until the end of next season, but he has expressed his desire to leave the Turin outfit.

His agent, Antonio Caliendo told Spanish daily 'Sport' that Liverpool and two Spanish sides, Real Zaragoza and Heracles are keen to sign Trezeguet.

Caliendo said, "It is true that Liverpool are interested, but they are not the only team. Zaragoza and Hercules are also interested in him,

"We are evaluating and, after a day of reflection, we will consider what action to take."

Roy Hodgson's interest in Trezeguet is also reported in Italy. Turin-based daily Tuttosport reports that Juventus are keen to do a deal which sees Trezeguet move to Anfield while defenders Emiliano Insua , who recently saw a move to Fiorentina collapse and Sotiris Kyrgiakos will sign for the Italian giants.

It would be little surprise if Liverpool seek to boost their attacking options and relieve Fernando Torres' huge goalscoring burden for the Reds.

Trezeguet would certainly be unfazed by a high-profile move to Liverpool. He scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for Juventus last season, and has found the net 34 times in 71 international caps, including the golden goal that clinched the Euro 2000 title. He has been at Juventus since signing from Monaco in 2000.
