Transfer Rumours

Tottenham's hopes of signing Loic Remy have been complicated by the fact the Queens Park Rangers striker has two buyout clauses, reportsThe Daily Telegraph. Spurs had been hopeful of tying up an eight million pound deal for the France international but it has now been revealed that sum is only for clubs who qualified for the Champions League.

Ouch

Liverpool have been given a boost in the hunt for Mario Balotelli after AC Milan reportedly splashed his asking to just £14million.

Balotelli is rumoured to be among Liverpool's top transfer targets this summer with Brendan Rodgers looking for a replacement for Luis Suarez.
And while the Italian's £30million price tag might have put off any potential bidders, Italian newspaper Tuttosport says Milan have slashed that down to just £14million.

The newspaper says that Balotelli has been told he can leave Milan this summer with the club hoping to sign Jackson Martinez or Radamel Falcao as a replacement.
Many have been put off by the ex-Manchester City striker's attitude, but at just £14 million, the 23-year-old could represent excellent value.

....................
A player of his quality, regardless of his issues, should be snapped up for £14m.

Sorry but I strongly disagree with that. You sign a player of Suarez' quality regardless of his issues. Balotelli is just not in that class.

for 14m you cannot go wrong, rogers might be able to take him to another level, these days for that type of money you can get Leeds' best player....

Yes, but Leeds player won't be on massive wages and might not actually act like a complete dick while being crap.

Sounds like BS in all honesty. Italian media are saying there hasnt been any contact for a month and the player is happy to stay at Juve. You should have spent the Herrera money on Vidal if he was avaliable for 34 mill, which I doubt imho.

95% of transfer are complete bull shit so who knows what is happening. Don't think this deal will happen bit apparently these were the quotes from Vidal on some Chillean tv channel.

"I am already at a great team like Juventus. That's why it will not be a problem if the option of Manchester United falls through," Vidal told Chilevision.

"I am not thinking about where to go next. I just want to enjoy my holiday here in Chile with the people I love. We will see what happens when I get back to Italy."

I'm very happy with the Herrera purchase and think he will do well for us

So no Moreno, for the sake of a few million. And not just Moreno. Shaw, Rodriguez, and Rojo, 3 really excellent young left backs, all available this summer. All could've been long-term solutions to a very, very, long-term problem. About as guaranteed investments as you could hope for in football.

*That's* a lack of ambition, right there.

Is Rodriguez really available though? Wolfsburg seem to have a good hold on all of their players, and the money to back them up.

Worth a try I should think.

Rodriguez isn't going to stay at Wolfsburg much longer, that much is certain.

No arguments there. Just get the feeling it'll end up being someone like Monaco spending 20M on him, and offering great wages as well.

How is it, we have apparently bid 16m which shows ambition they want 20m, 4m is a significant difference. How do we know if Rodriguez or Rojo are significantly better (Rojo appears to be a red card waiting to happen sent off 5 times in last 2 seasons) and we all agree Shaw is overpriced. I admit I don't know a great deal about Davies but I can't see these players are 2 to 3 times better and he is less likely to have his head turned than the others if he kicks on and somebody comes in for him in a year or two.

How? Because we're giving up on a first choice for a position that's haunted us for years, for the sake of £3-4m. A player who could play for the next 10 years. Spread that £4m across 10 years - £400k a year. Factor in inflation and you might be looking at £200k a year in current terms.

It's an insignificant amount of money when we're talking about a long term investment.

Btw, I've no idea why people seem so confident we'll get Davies for £10m. If he's as good as most think, the first thing Swansea are going to do is look at Shaw at £30m and think he must be worth £18-20m.

Is it ? We may have valued Moreno at £13-14m and pushed the boat out to £1m to get him, then you can understand 50% more than our valuation isn't just a 'few million'. Simply put we really don't know. Shaw for £30m+ is simply potential, that is a helluva risk, he may be great for 10 years or he may not progress at all. What other 18 year old has gone for £30m plus ?

As far as who we do get, and we will get someone, then maybe they will actually do a better job for us. The Davies offer rejected sounds promising, a more defensive minded LB compared to Moreno/Shaw.

Khedira to Arsenal losing traction :

Sami Khedira has been backed into 3/1 (from 6/1 this morning) to sign for Chelsea this summer. Arsenal were 1/10 to sign the Real Madrid midfielder last night but he is now 1/3 to move to the Emirates during the transfer window.

Former Southampton defender Danny Higginbotham thinks talk of a new five-year deal for Jay Rodriguez won’t stop the England striker from leaving and could be a ploy to get the best deal possible from Liverpool or Tottenham.
