Transfer Rumours

Didn't he have a poor last season in France (which is why his club is letting him walk)?
I thought they got relegated that's why his contract is up.

This is all based upon what the ITV commentators said, so it's probably completely false.

His reflex shot stopping has been incredible, but in terms of overall performance, I think Claudio Bravo who just joined Barca from Sociedad, has been the best keeper in the games I've managed to watch. He made a couple of mistakes against Brazil, but I was impressed otherwise.

I was seriously impressed with the Swiss keeper, Benaglio, last night. Not so spectacular (though he made 2-3 excellent saves) but his positioning and solidity was confidence inspiring for the defenders ahead of him.

EDIT. He made 22 saves in that match !

They were saying last night that Howard set a new world cup record with 16?

Oh yes, that was some performance by Bengalio, agreed there.

I'm assuming that every shot 'on target' was a save. That has to be wrong though as I've just seen a figure of 8 saves. That surely can't be right - he was diving all over the place and only 8 saves in 120 mins ? Not right at all.

29 shots 22 on target and 8 saves. I can remember at least that many !

The keepers have been putting on quite the show in the WC. And yeah, Bengalio was damn impressive last night.

Benaglio's value is supposedly around £5.28 (Transfermarkt) . He's 30 yrs old, 1.94m tall (bloody hell) and plays for Wolfsberg.

Chelsea agree deal for Costa

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign striker Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, the Barclays Premier League club have announced.

The Spain international had long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and now the Blues have confirmed they have met the buy-out clause for the 25-year-old.

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa, with Chelsea meeting the buy-out clause for the Spanish international," read a statement on the club's official website.

Brazil-born Costa netted 35 goals for Atletico last season as they won the Spanish title and reached the Champions League final, where they lost in extra-time to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old emerged as the leading summer transfer target for Blues manager Jose Mourinho, who was determined to add some firepower to a squad which came up just short behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League and were knocked out of Europe in the semi-finals by Atletico.

It is believed the transfer fee will be in the region of £32 million.

Defender Ashley Cole has left Chelsea this summer at the end of his contract, along with England midfielder Frank Lampard.

However, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas was signed from Barcelona on June 12,the day before Spain crashed to a 5-1 defeat to Holland in their opening World Cup match in Brazil.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chelsea announced goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer had signed a new one-year contract.

The former Australia international, 41, headed to Stamford Bridge last summer on a free transfer from west London neighbours Fulham to offer back-up to Petr Cech and went on to make 12 appearances - including the semi-final against Atletico after injury to the Chelsea number one.

Didn't you just know we'd end up signing him? Got that sinking feeling as soon as I heard he was Rodgers' favoured alternative to Moreno a couple of months ago - just seemed to be that one shitty link that wouldn't go away, like Crouch and Downing before him.

I mean, I presume he's shit, because I don't remember ever seeing him play. Am I being unfair?

Anyway, it's made especially disappointing given just how many promising young left backs there seem to be right now. Ben Davies just went to Spurs for exactly the money quoted for Bertrand, for a start.

No you're not he really is THAT shit. I thought he was going to Hull anyway. Its Ricardo Rodriguez we should be going for. He looks a lot better than moreno.

I think Rodriguez is being quoted at something like £30m now, though. I think we should go for that Rojo bloke, he can fill in at centre back too.

Fuck me, Utd are splashing some cash this summer. It was always inevitable with Van Gaal taking the job and the huge leap in Champions league earnings in 2015/16.

But still, their wage bill is going to be HUGE.

It's a 101 great goals, it's all speculative anyway as the article says they want 50m euros.

We'll we will have lost Rio, Vidic and Giggs from the wage bill who were all earning at least 100k+

Plus we have one of the lowest wage bills relative to turnover among the premierleague top teams

Liverpool can have summer target for massive £40 million

Real Madrid have reportedly told the likes of Liverpool that they will have to stump up £40m if they want to sign winger Angel di Maria.
The Reds have been linked with the flying star for some time now, as boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to add some world class players to his squad.
Los Blancos previously insisted that they would not sell Di Maria, but may be willing to listen to a big-money offer, according to the Metro.
They are looking for a figure of around £40 million, as they plan on a summer of spending themselves.

I hope that isn't true, sounds like stupid money considering Sanchez and DiMaria may be going for less.

Don't think we need a new winger let alone a €40m plus one.

He's one of the players of the WC for me. You have no one even close and would be a fantastic signing. Hope it doesn't happen !

Adriano has expressed a desire to remain at Barcelona but says he will not know if he is wanted until he speaks to new coach Luis Enrique.
The Brazilian utility player still has three years left on his current deal at the Nou Camp but has been tipped to leave this summer as part of a squad rebuilding plan.

In recent weeks rumours have persisted that he could be sold and both Liverpool and Roma have been credited with an interest.

"At the moment I am staying, but I know that there is interest from other clubs," he told Sport. "I do have a contract until 2017 and until the president tells me something different I will continue. "I am only thinking about Barca and really would like to stay. I want to talk to the coach and clear things up. "Lately, there have been a lot of rumours that are not based on anything and I want to start pre-season focused without rumours of whether I am going or staying. "I do not know what I will do, but if I stay then I will show I am capable of playing more than people think."

Swansea say they want £45million for Wilfried Bony, Michel Vorm and Ben Davies who have attracted interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.

Tottenham have opened talks over Davies but Swansea value him at £12m. Striker Bony is now rated at £25m and Vorm around £8m.Vorm is currently still at the World Cup with Holland, where he is backup to first-choice Jasper Cilllesen.

Bony, however, has already returned home after his two goals in three games could not prevent Ivory Coast's unfortunate group stage exit. Davies, meanwhile, has been enjoying his summer off after Wales' failure to qualify.
