Transfer rumours

Spurs in for Coutinho. That'd be very annoying.

I'd have no doubt that Coutinho would rather come back to us than go anywhere else. We should frankly get in on a loan deal if we can.

I don't want him going to one of our rivals - he's still a very good player.

There's too much bluff and counter-bluff about this, almost similar to the EU and Boris Johnson regarding Brexit, and much of this does not make sense, either.

I guess we'll see on Thursday.

If they sign him, then i will be seriously pissed, our midfield has no out and out creative attacker at that level. Its fucking stupid not spending anything this transfer, the CL win is glossing over our pathetic showing in the domeatic cups, and dropping a 7 point lead in the league. Blah blah blah...but it was 97 points.....

After declining Manchester United, Paulo #Dybala is also not convinced about going to London side Tottenham . La Joya wants to stay at #Juventus , even if Paratici continues to work on a potential sale. In the background also remains PSG. [@NicoSchira]

Apparently Diaz is not part of zidane's plans at Madrid. Only just paid big money from city for him. He will go out on loan, interesting to see where he may end up?

How are we so fucking skint

We don't have high wage bills and our net spend every year is not that of a top 4 spending club.
Our highest earners get 150k a week, Arsenal Utd City Chelsea have players on 250-300k a week.

We got to a CL final and won the CL in 2 years.

Actually not a rumour.

Wayne Rooney has agreed to join Derby as a player-coach in January on an initial 18-month contract.
The 33-year-old will complete the current MLS season with DC United, which will finish no later than November, before making his return to English football.

I don't really get this move. It seemed like I was seeing massively hyped goals from him every other week in America, I thought he was doing really well there? Must want to be back in England.

Championship is gonna be tough

Yep. Says he misses family & friends. He always came across of a bit of home-boy so it was actually a surprise when he up and went to the USA. Gerrard surprised me too.

I suppose it is down to what you believe. Some think it is FSG withholding funds, others believe Klopp is content with what he has. Some journalists have said that who Liverpool want are not available this summer so will wait to go for them in January or next year.

Klopp has repeatedly said if the right player comes up he has the money to go for them if he wants to.

I doubt we have no transfer budget at all, but I also think FSG are probably happy to pay back money towards the main stand investment so we are not in for anyone big.

Surely the players who are not available now will more expensive next year, unless their contact is being run down.

I think it is also down to if clubs the players are at are willing to let them go. A lot of selling clubs often will allow a player to leave only after a certain amount of time. I think Sancho is who people are on about. After Dortmund said he would not be sold under any circumstance this year Klopp and Edwards will wait til next year. They may be pooling resources for a bigger splash next year also if the point about waiting on players is correct.

Apparently we paid a sizeable bonus for the CL win, and have also been handing out big wage increases.

But in any event I'd rather we wait for next summer and spend big again.

Actually if we are going to win the PL we needed to strengthen THIS Summer, whilst we are probably one of the most attractive teams in Europe for a player to join.

United are spending a lot and will do so again next Summer, throw enough mud and some will stick, they will become contenders sooner rather than later after their few years in the doldrums.
Chelsea have a transfer ban so can be expected to spend a substantial amount next Summer.
City have barely strengthened so far and have a number of players nearing their Sell-By date, including David Silva and Fernandinho, and Kompany (The Glue) has already moved on.
Spurs seem to have done some great business this window, if they do indeed end up adding Dybala and Coutinho.

All of which could mean they will all be strong contenders for any players we are also after next Summer (esp. United, City and Chelsea). It seems to me as if we are letting a Golden Opportunity slip away .. yet again.

I’d rather we wait out for our top targets rather than going for someone substandard who won’t really improve the squad and will be difficult to get rid of when we finally get our top target.

That's very easy to say but you don't know who are/were our targets, in fact none of us knows if they were available or not this Summer, or if indeed we actually have more than one target. Regardless it just has the feeling that we've missed the boat, again.

Utd out of the Erikssen transfer as he wants to go to Madrid. No, he just doesn't want to play for a mid table team like them.

Klopp has also done an interview with sky sports essentially saying that he can't sign players as they'll want to know when they'll play, and he'll have to tell them they can't as the first 11 is so good, so they wont come. That didn't seem to stop city stacking their bench with talent.

New players are never the only solution. And making this team stronger, the starting line-up, that's really difficult and very expensive and we don't have that money. That's how it is. You cannot go out with £150m or £200m and just say, 'Yes, that's the guy we need and he can make us better'.
"Because, also, that would only be if one of the others cannot play. These players, you can't really get, because they ask, 'When will I play?' and I have to tell them, 'When he is ill or when he leaves.' It makes it even more difficult.
"It's the price you pay for success and for having a good team, and it's also why I say settle down, watch, work, improve - because we have to - and then," Klopp slaps his hand onto his thigh with a loud clap, "find the solutions in the moments when you need them."

Basically I think that's BS and stinks of just being an excuse for lack of activity. Many other clubs are well-stocked, it doesn't seem to stop them signing good players and I don't believe that if it's true we are only after a £20-30m player for the left wing that there aren't many good players that would jump at the opportunity and bide their time, knowing they'd still get plenty of match time this season.

I really don't know what's gone on. I don't however believe it's as simple as the players they targeted not being available at the moment.

A world class midfielder would fancy their chances of getting into our 11. The list of players who are that talented but will also work like a dog is not long though.
