Transfer rumours

I think it is also down to if clubs the players are at are willing to let them go. A lot of selling clubs often will allow a player to leave only after a certain amount of time. I think Sancho is who people are on about. After Dortmund said he would not be sold under any circumstance this year Klopp and Edwards will wait til next year. They may be pooling resources for a bigger splash next year also if the point about waiting on players is correct.

The fee for the likes of Sancho will only increase further and there will be more competition for his signature next season, unless you can agree a naby like deal.

This summer would have been the perfect time to strike, with united all over the place and chelsea having a transfer bam

I agree, I'm frustrated with out lack of activity, especially in the fullback department.

I think a likely scenario next year is Salah going to Real Madrid, leading to us going for Sancho.

That's very easy to say but you don't know who are/were our targets, in fact none of us knows if they were available or not this Summer, or if indeed we actually have more than one target. Regardless it just has the feeling that we've missed the boat, again.

You're right that none of us know and possibly will never know. We won't know till May whether we have missed the boat or not. If we get another 20% from Shaquiri and Keita and 500% more out of Oxlade-Chamberlain then we'd have improved. It is all unknowns at this moment in time.

Virgil is a great example of the patience we showed. I'm happy we waited for 6 months for him to finally sign rather than going out and signing anyone for the sake of signing someone.

Utd out of the Erikssen transfer as he wants to go to Madrid. No, he just doesn't want to play for a mid table team like them.

Klopp has also done an interview with sky sports essentially saying that he can't sign players as they'll want to know when they'll play, and he'll have to tell them they can't as the first 11 is so good, so they wont come. That didn't seem to stop city stacking their bench with talent.
That's because City will pay mega bucks in wages for a player to sit on the bench..

We won't..

If we said here you go, you won't get into the first team every week but here is 150k to 200k to compensate for that a week we would have no problem in signing quality players to sit on the bench..

Coutinho on loan seems the most viable option.. they owe us a shit load of cash.. 88million which includes add-ons.

We could say.. 2 years loan with an option to buy at the end of the two year a combined fee of 88million + wages for loan period which would effectivity wipe that out.

As it is Barca are desperate to get rid.. I suspect we would take him back, but only in a deal that suits us.. not them..

They may cave in to our demands to get him off the wage bill, so they can pursuit that Brazilian fool Neymar..

I suppose it is down to what you believe. Some think it is FSG withholding funds, others believe Klopp is content with what he has. Some journalists have said that who Liverpool want are not available this summer so will wait to go for them in January or next year.

Klopp has repeatedly said if the right player comes up he has the money to go for them if he wants to.

I doubt we have no transfer budget at all, but I also think FSG are probably happy to pay back money towards the main stand investment so we are not in for anyone big.
We bid by all accounts on Pepe, but no one else. Dybala, Fernandes, Van De Beek, Timo Werner, Havertz and Ziyech all would add depth and strength and each of them would be available for €80m or lower

I just don't believe that we went in for Pepe at all. If we wanted Pepe he would be here, definitely.

We clearly aren't interested in any of the players you have listed either, which I think is bonkers, particularly in the case of Ziyech.

I read a few pieces, all wellwritten and long, last year on how we work on transfers and how Edwards was rightly applauded as a very good recruiter. But these methods should be seen as not valid anymore as you have identified the players we should go for?

It's mystifying that Klopp had only 1 name on his list. Last year Klopp signed Shaq and the previous season Robertson, both players were seen as bench options and probably the names were suggested by one of Klopp's staff. I am sure those same staffs are mentioning signings, but I don't understand knowing that Ox and Lalllana are always a game away from an injury that will sideline them for 6 months, why he wouldn't strengthen? We have the smallest squad in the PL to boot, so plenty of room for additions

Do we really have the smallest squad in the league?

Outside the first 11, we have Shaqiri, Ox, Milner, Keita, Brewster, Origi, Lallana

I'm happy enough with our midfield and attack tbh. We can afford to save up for Salah's replacement next year.

I'm more worried about the FB situation, but I'm guessing Hoever will get a chance

So then you suggest strengthen the Depth With a few players in the 80M bracket?

Klopp obviously think different than you. He counts on the players he has. He knows he can't have two additional sets of 80M players as cover for the ones he already has. He rely on Ox, He obviously hopes Lallana will stay fit and add to the Depth as he values him very high. He has built his Squad on other values than just who could be availble for 80 M and it seem like he has done a good job. We don't have a group of sulkers givin up as they don't start every game, but he still have players who wants to play so much that they shoot us to the CL final when left out of the start XI With no more fuzz than that. players these days are bigheaded egos With agent that is more than prepared to secure them a deal elsewhere. Do we really want a few of these onboard? I assume we don't want a huge number of potential firstteamers feeling far away from the starting XI as that disrupt the rythm in our game as well as the atmosphere in the squad. Strengthen With the right man yes, but splashing cash just because we can gets a no.

A lot of people taking Klopp’s comments at face value it seems.

There are clearly more than a few attainable players that would come without a guaranteed starting spot.

We clearly have other reasons for not buying.

I'm finding it impossible to seperate hysteria from fact, both on here and on Twitter, could someone quote this a let me know when one of the following happens.

Dybala signs for anyone
Coutinho signs for anyone
Eriksen signs for anyone
Bruno Fernandes signs for anyone.

Much obliged.

He says we have no money and the squad can do. What other reasons can there be

Redcafe up in arms and frothing at the mouth that Everton Offered 70mill plis players for Zaha, 30mill for Iwobi, but only offered to take smalling on loan. Doing their nut. Nevermind he's garbage and they all admit to that.

Eh? What about Lovren, and Gomez - the fall off from Matip's quality is there, but they are still very capable defenders. Adrian is a decent goalie, Hoever is very promising - add your players and there you have a "B" squad of 11 players who are pretty damn good. Not saying we couldn't get better, or more robust players, but we have a decent second string. No need to panic.
