Transfer Rumours 21/22

A bit surprised if Haaland goes there, and rather doesn't wait until next season to make his move.
I think it makes sense. They want a player with a high ceiling and has youth on his side. The Al-Thani family probably have trillions (Ghadafi was worth $200bn), and want prestige. I do wonder if after the WC they have the same interest in football?

Femi Azeez : 10 goals in 17 matches last season (U23s) and 2 in 4 this. 20 years old. Fits the right profile to replace Origi.

Is that figure from last season correct.

I thought 2 goals in 4 games was his career total?

Is it time FIFA look to put a cap on agent fees? Some of these agents earn more than top flight footballers.
It’s long past time, but the problem is they’ll set the cap too high, agents will say “That’s the standard” and smaller clubs will get fleeced for the full whack as well.
When they changed the rules a few years back (when the concept of “intermediaries” came in, lower bar for entry to the industry), they put a “suggested” cap in of 4% and the agents just said “that’s 4% for player services AND 4% for the club services” so it ended up inflating the fees to 8%, when they were around 6% total for most deals (a few years before that 5% total was standard). Probably double digits is standard by now, at least for the top leagues.
And just to clarify, the percentage is usually based on the minimum guaranteed salary (and image rights) of the player over the full life of his contract, excluding any performance based bonuses. For a purchase, this is based on the whole term of the contract, for a renewal clubs will argue it’s only calculated on the extra years plus any pay increase on years remaining on the current contract (basis of the argument being the agent has already had a fee on the remaining years at the current salary rate).

The fucking player should pay the fucking agent. Greedy fucking cunts. I know the fee would just be passed onto the clubs some other way.

Just kill the cunts.
You’re right, it would get passed on to the clubs, it already does. At the moment, where the club can argue at least part of the fee is theirs, the overall cost to the club is lower because they don’t pay tax on their bit.

Thinking about agent’s fees is taking me back to the absolute bollocks players came out with about the super league. Claiming it’s the fans who are getting fleeced as it is. They employe agents who charge clubs astronomical fees. These fees are indirectly passed onto the fans.

There is 2 ways out of this. First, the clubs collectively refuse to pay them. They won’t do that because they want the best talent who tend to be represented by the “best” agents who get the money. The second is the players stop it. They won’t because they’re greedy bastards.

What else could be done to stop this madness?

Ah sorry - yes the 10 in 17 is from the U23s. You are right. Sorry missed that.

Anyway... as much as I trust Rdwards and his spreadies - this has to be an utter fabrication - someone having a laugh.

Nothing - while there’s club owning cunts with the money to pay, someone will try and fleece them.

You look at the big spenders- they’ll keep doing it.

The only hope is that they do a Barca and crash - but that’s not gonna happen to teams backed by oil rich states or billionaires with nothing better to do with their money.

Viva la great reset... or something!!!

I am saying cap it at a 7 figure amount like £2 million or lower which is still huge and enough incentive to still work hard for their client. I wonder how much we paid in agent fees for the contract renewals this season?

Check these figures out. Far as I am concerned, FIFA should act. Put an upper 6-7 figure limit per player.

It probably needs to be a hybrid model - X% with a maximum fee of £Y. That way it works for both small and big deals. But the reality is the agents can get this money out of clubs and they always will. Agents help the clubs get around stuff they want to do where there are rules to stop them (e.g. sounding out an agent is fine, tapping up a player is not, even though everyone does it).
But if FIFA cap their fees, they’ll just find another way to get the money which is less transparent (lots of scouting or general consultancy agreements pop up when they can’t get what they want through official means). We used to joke about how we never got to see the “general advice” and “scouting reports” we were paying so much money for.
Also worth bearing in mind that a lot of these really massive fees are probably compensating the highest profile agents for the windfall income they’ve lost from the outlawing of third party ownership of players.

I don’t like it either - Christiano will bring winning mentality that many of United’s younger players lack. If they sign Bissouma and Trippier too and fuck off Martial, I think they have a title-winning squad.

The only issue is I’m not sure Solskjaer is tactically flexible enough to integrate all of those intriguing, but somewhat random parts. Does he know how to use Cavani and Ronaldo together, for example? Or what to do with Van de Beek? With someone like Conte in charge, I think they would win it.

Yeah but he win also put some Utd players nose out of joint...Bruno Fernandes will be replaced on free kick and penalties, as probably Pobga on most free kicks he takes
