Transfer Rumours 21/22

Haaland himself chose Dortmund over loads of clubs, mainly because of playing time and the right place to develop.
Dont think it would have made much difference if Klopp had been "on" him when he left Salzburg.
We made 0 effort so we won't really know. That boat has sailed. I'm sure the team has the list of players probably many we've never really thought of.

Sounds like a conspiracy to me... there are a few posters who can help you prove that.

The scouting reports and Edwards recommendations can probably be found on a lost server in Frankfurt, or by sending an email to a dodgy Italian law professor.

This is known as a FACT, because Bluebell has inside information on all conversations Michael Edwards & Klopp have
Having a conversation about players cannot be classed as "making an effort". As I said, that ship has sailed, the club will look at other options. There are plenty of players that have real potential that Klopp could look at like; Andre Silva, Patson Daka, Danny Melon, ivan Toney, Inaki Williams, Odsonne Edouard and Abdallah Sima are just to name but a few

I googled Danny Melon and these are the results. Which one is he, @bluebell?

[article]Liverpool have ‘signalled their fundamental interest’ in Schalke forward Matthew Hoppe.

Schalke are enduring a horror season in the Bundesliga and sit rock bottom of the table after one win in 25 games.

Hoppe has been one of the few positives, with the American scoring five goals – including a hat-trick in the win over Hoffenheim – in his debut senior season.

The 20-year-old is on the radar of Ajax and a number of English clubs, with Liverpool one of those to have ‘signalled their fundamental interest’ in the player, according to Tranfermarkt (via Sport Witness).

Hoppe signed a new contract with Schalke last month which runs until the summer of 2023, but a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ means he would be allowed to leave should a suitable offer be tabled.

The report claims Hoppe would be allowed to leave for a ‘high single-digit million’ fee.

I like Matthew Hoppe. Unfortunately his hot scoring streak stopped after they were trounced by Bayern in late January, but his movement, anticipation and calmness in front of goal tells me this is a proper natural goal-scorer. No problem with physical attributes either.
Young USMNT striker Matthew Hoppe, 20, is a target for several Premier League clubs according to multiple reports. Transfermarkt in Germany states that both Liverpool and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on the California native. Soon to be promoted Norwich City and Dutch giants Ajax are also interested in Hoppe, who reportedly has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in his recently signed contract with Schalke that he can leave for $7-10 million if they are relegated from the Bundesliga.

Schalke currently sit bottom of the Bundesliga table after another shambolic season amid financial mismanagement and constant coaching changes. Amidst all of that, Hoppe experienced a purple patch where he became the first American to score a hat trick in the Bundesliga and scored five goals in three games in January. Since that red-hot streak, he’s struggled to find consistency as Schalke have continued to lose and he hasn’t scored another goal. That said, Hoppe has shown enough of a poacher’s instinct to surely be worth a pop for Premier League clubs.

Which club would be the right move for him? Probably Norwich, as he’d play more and they play an attractive, attacking style. At Tottenham he would be behind Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and others, but Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius are set to move on this summer so perhaps Jose Mourinho would need more back up options? But is playing second fiddle to Kane in a defensive-minded team the right move for Hoppe? Probably not.

Liverpool is the outlier and most intriguing club linked with a move for the young American. Jurgen Klopp has already raided Schalke for Ozan Kabak in January and the young center back came through the ranks with Hoppe at the German giants. With Roberto Firmino struggling for goals and only Divock Origi as a back-up option at center forward, Hoppe may actually get some decent minutes at Liverpool.

I remember this guy was saying something similar that about himself

Sorry... can we just go back to Danny Melon.

He sounds like a 3rd rate comedian stuck on the Uni Standup circuit.

Huh? Sorry, I don't follow the logic. Borini was shite, therefore... what?
I could be wrong, but he feels more like a Borini signing

In other news
Liverpool may return for Gleison Bremer if Torino are relegated

What would you think if the club bought Ivan Toney as replacement for Div? 26 goals and 9 assists in the Championship

I would think if that deal could be done we would be replacing a player who has completely stagnated with a guy who could be a genuine option to change games coming off the bench. Good move.

I'd be disappointed if we're not in for Haaland and/or Mbappe this summer, assuming either one wants to move.
Get disappointed now, and get over it. Have you seen Mbappe's salary? Haaland wants £20m a year - just not in our means especially if we need to strengthen by signing 4-5 players

Nice guy... Even if we only get around £15m-£20m for him, I would bite their hands off
West Ham should go all out for Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

With Jurgen Klopp allegedly willing to let Oxlade-Chamberlain leave Anfield this summer, the Liverpool ace would be the ideal option for the Hammers.
The 27-year-old is incredibly versatile. He can operate as a box-to-box midfielder, further forward in a play-making role or on either wing.

The Ox, who earns £110k-a-week (Football League FC) possesses blistering pace and he is incredibly powerful. He has all of the attributes needed to excel in the central midfield role and the Liverpool ace would provide West Ham with another truly top class option in the middle of the park.

David Moyes should have a great chance of bringing the former Arsenal ace to the London Stadium.

If the 27-year-old isn’t guaranteed regular action at Liverpool, he will surely want to move to a club where he will be given the opportunity to play regularly.
At his age he probably has two or three more major tournaments in him for England. And he will be desperate to get back into contention for the Three Lions squad.

West Ham would be a great option for the Ox. Based in London, near his former home, the Hammers will surely be an attractive option for the Reds ace.
Added to that, if we manage to secure European football for next season, the Liverpool man might actually jump at the chance to move to the London Stadium.
One red flag for the Hammers, however, will be Oxlade-Chamberlain’s checkered past with injuries.
If we can pick him up for a decent fee, however, it might just be worth the risk.
Make it happen Sully!

How do you know what Haaland wants, when he hasnt even decided if he'll leave this summer or next?

Can’t see FSG spending anywhere near the money required for either, it will more likely someone from a relegated team either a loan or free.

In a normal financial environment, I think FSG would spend big on the right player.
They have pushed the boat out at Red Sox earlier for the franchise players when needed.
This is a bit of a cluster fuck though.

Just out of interest, how’s red sox investment been over the last 2 years?
They seemed to be going through a big cost cutting excercise back then but not checked since.

I followed a few years back, but more like 8-10 yrs.

This summer or next summer, we're not paying £20m a season for a player
MAN CITY PLAN SUMMER HAALAND BID

Manchester City are preparing to launch a £100 million bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer, according to the Mirror. The 20-year-old has been lighting up the Bundesliga since his move to Dortmund 13 months ago and has attracted the attention of Europe's finest. Haaland has a £68 million release clause in his contract which becomes active in 2022, but Manchester City are ready to gazump their rivals to the Norwegian's signature by submitting a bid in excess of the release clause this summer. The Mirror reveal that City would be willing to offer Haaland a contract worth £400,000 a week.

Boring Man City.

What we achieved for the 3-4 year period and the level we reached with Klopp in light of city’s wealth and cooking the books was amazing and will probably be considered even more of a bigger achievement over the next few years.

I guess one of the biggest gratitudes goes to Coutinho, without him I suspect it may not have happened.

We're not in the same financial landscape as these guys.
