Transfer Deadline Day

Liverpool have reportedly made a bid for Malaga midfielder Francisco Portillo.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is said to have made a €16 million (£13.2m) bid for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder, according to reports in Spain.

Who's the bloke they currently have on standing by the transfer screen? I'm fascinated by the way he makes the act of speaking seem so incredibly complicated. It's exhausting watching his mouth and teeth cope with saying words like 'but,' 'and' and 'the'. If he has to report we've signed Konoplyanka his bloody head will explode.

Fulham have lodged a second bid for the Wales international defender Neil Taylor, but any potential deal could be scuppered by the player's as yet unborn child. Taylor's wife has gone into labour, in a state of affairs that may hamper her husband's ability to sign contracts or thrash out personal terms.

"Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan from Russian club Spartak Moscow until the end of the season

"The vastly-experienced 31-year-old will provide cover for the injured Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, with Mathieu Flamini suspended for the next three games.

How did my thread, which was about how annoying Jim White and the whole frigging circus of transfer deadline day is a steaming pile of wank, get changed to the thread that is transfer deadline day? Mortified.

Because most cunts in here are too lazy to start threads. So they throw in something vaguely relevant to the title.

Some mod did change the title though - which I don't agree with at all.

When I saw this had become a rumours thread I shut the other one done

Wasn't me Ross. I just mod here.

Selfish bint that one.

Crystal Palace have had a £3m offer for Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey accepted by the League One club.

Juventus have confirmed that Dani Osvaldo is in Turin for his medical ahead of completing a loan move from Southampton.

The Italy international was pictured this morning arriving in the Italian city, as reports continue to suggest an agreement between Juve and the Saints is close to finalisation.

Now Juve have released a brief statement through their official website confirming that the 28-year-old is visiting first Turin’s Istituto di Medicina dello Sport for examinations, before completing his medical at the Isokinetic and Clinica Fornaca di Sessant centres.

It is understood that the Bianconeri are going to pay out €400,000 for Osvaldo’s initial loan through to June, and agree to a purchase option come then set at €18m.

How's the leaky cat and the sick boiler?

Billy Connolly used to have a routine about a missionary who gets captured by cannibals. He pleads for his life and their chief says they'll let him go if he (a) drinks a vat of the local toddy, (b) goes into this cave and pulls out the sore tooth belonging to the lion that lives there, then (c) satisfies the tribe's nymphomaniac. So the missionary drinks the hooch and goes into the cave. The cannibals all stand outside listening to the yelling, grunting, banging and shouting coming from inside the cave. Finally the missionary staggers out, with his clothes all torn and tattered, and asks:

"Right! Where's the woman with a sore tooth?"

Some breaking news from the Ukraine - sources there are suggesting that Konoplyanka is about to board a plane to fly to England.

So far, we have been unable to confirm those reports with Liverpool or his club Dnipro, but the Ukraine media seem to believe it's true. If that is the case, then it could be massive news for the Reds.

We are hearing some news from within Anfield, and it suggests that any deal for Yann M'Vila is unlikely.

Sources within the club suggest that dealing with his club Rubin Kazan is even more fiendishly complicated than Dnipro, and that would suggest talks won't even get off the ground.

Berbatov has arrived at Monaco with a view to completing his switch to the French title chasers.

QPR have now confirmed the loan signing of Aaron Hughes from Fulham.

Osvaldo to Juve ... In Turin, with a hat (LOOK @gene hughes!):

The selling point was when he was offered the lead role in the local amateur dramatics association production of A Clockwork Orange

General blank looks and even bafflement at Anfield over rumours that Konoplyanka is preparing to board a plane to England, so it seems the deal isn't as advanced as Ukrainian media outlets would suggest.

Unofficial eastern European twitter feeds jumping the gun and proving wide of the mark? Who'd have thought it?!

Liverpool believe a deal can still be done for the winger, but rate their chances as no better than 50-50 at this moment in time, so perhaps he's not collecting the boarding card just yet. And as we suggested earlier, it seems we may still be here at 11pm, waiting to see if they finally get the deal over the line.....
