Give Sherwood a day to come up with another rant.

Tottenham approach revealed by Frank de Boer
- Ajax coach tells Dutch broadcaster Spurs have contacted him
- 'I'm going to listen and talk. Then make my feelings known'

The Ajax coach Frank de Boer has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have approached the Amsterdam club to test his interest in coaching the club.

In an interview with the national broadcaster NOS on Tuesday, De Boer said he had been informed of Tottenham's call by the Ajax football director, Marc Overmars.

De Boer added that until the season ends next week, he is concerned only with Ajax, who clinched a fourth consecutive Eredivisie title on Sunday. Then, he will be willing to entertain the possibility of a change, though the 43-year-old coach said he is satisfied at Ajax, his first major coaching job.

"I'm going to listen and talk," he said. "Then I'll make my feelings known. I want to add something to a club, so that people can say that they see the hand of Frank de Boer. Liverpool are a good example of this with Brendan Rodgers."

The current Spurs manager Tim Sherwood had criticised those "touting" for his job after the weekend win over Stoke. "At every press conference at our training centre, it was 'you're keeping the seat warm for someone else'. Yeah, I am but the seat's getting quite hot," Sherwood said.

"Every press conference I do it's 'this manager's coming in … [Louis] Van Gaal … then [Glenn] Hoddle, this one and that one.' Some of these managers are actually touting themselves for my job. I don't think that's right. It's something that doesn't sit well with me.

"If anyone ever asks me about another job I just tell them that they've got another manager. Until they haven't got a manager and until I haven't got a job, say nothing."

It is a good choice by them if they give him loads of time. His qualities are not going to be bringing in a load of players but instead teaching the Ajax style to what is already there. At Ajax, of course, the players coming through have been playing this system since they were kids. He works with a director of football there as well so does not actually buy the players.

His number 2 is also Dennis Bergkamp which could be funny.

I have sympathy with Sherwood. It's underhand. If they don't want him, then pay him off and recruit someone else.

Definitely helps his case having 2 former players (Vertonghen, Eriksen) and 2 others he'll be familiar with (Dembele, Chadli) having played in the Dutch Eredivisie, besides the reputation of bringing players through from the youth teams.

I normally would feel sorry for a person in his (Sherwood's) position. However, given how much he's begged, whined, bragged, etc. in public and put pressure on Levy to keep him, it's hard to not understand why Levy wants to get rid of him. Yeah it's underhanded what Levy is doing, no doubt, but they have previous (see Juande Ramos / Martin Jol) so Sherwood wasn't blind to it. In fact, who's to say Levy didn't speak to Sherwood before sacking Villas-Boas?

Personally I'm convinced they wanted De Boer and Van Gaal BEFORE sacking Villas-Boas.

Sherwood must have known he wasn't going to be permanently appointed from day one, but feels he deserves a chance.
No sympathy for him.

De Boer would be a good choice for Barca I think. I like him and rate him as a manager, so I'm hoping he wont end up at Spurs.

Ronald Koeman. 240 goals as a defender. Insane.

Doing a decent job with Feyenoord isnt he?

They are doing much better since he took over but he has not just won 4 Eredivisies in a row. Feyenoord and Ajax were both in bad financial shit and have both basically brought the kids through.
