Fernando Torres is to be offered for free around Premier League clubs this January - only four years after costing a British record £50m.
Milan are seeking to cancel the Spaniard’s two-year loan deal agreed with Chelsea in August.
But Jose Mourinho does not need another striker after signing Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy in the summer.
And Torres’ former club Atletico Madrid have turned down the chance to take him back on loan in a swap deal which would have sent Italy winger Alessio Cerci to the San Siro.
So the ex-Liverpool forward, now 30, is facing the embarrassment of looking for another loan club to continue an injury-blighted career which has struggled ever since his staggering move to Chelsea in January 2011 on a day of deadline deals which saw the arrival of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez at Anfield.
Torres was adored at Liverpool and he scored the winning goal for Spain in a man-of-the-match performance in the Euro 2008 final - and appeared as a sub in the 2010 World Cup final.

Yeah he is much better than any of our current fit strikers, maybe we could loan him until the summer. We would be mad not to take him! As for players with history, we signed Balotelli a man who has had trouble everywhere he has been.

I think we should do it just to dispel the myth that there's he was great because he loves the club so much.

Because the Benitez gets the best out of him one is dead in the water after Chelsea.

As far as I can tell it's up to AC what happens as they have a contract with him and Chelsea won't let them cancel it unless they pass the wage onto someone else

I did notice that in all the rumours it seemed to be AC who were doing the offloading. Still thought Chelsea would have the final say.

Don't think what AC are paying is anywhere near that. Saw 3.1M a year floating about

If there isnt anyone available I'd get him on a short term contract.
I'd have more faith in him than Borini and he might step up 10-20 % just because he'd be back at Anfield.
