We can hope but we won't, it's too late in the day and we are going to conned transfer fee wise and probably end up with Ricardo Fuller as replacement.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

This is horrible.
I know I've called him names on here and all but I really don't want us to sell Torres.
He is my favourite player and to see him in the Chelsea jersey will be just shit.
I'm not even angry anymore, just so so disappointed.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Suarez - 23m

Babel - 6m
Torres - 50m

Gives us 33m And thats without the board spending a penny. I think its realistic to expect a Torres replacement and either Adam or a winger.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Get Lukaku, he won't cost more than £20m if Carroll or Llorente are unavailable.

Suarez was bought BEFORE we sell/sold Torres, we still have 50M+ for transfers

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Carroll to Liverpool could be the making of the lad. He would lose his life long mates who take him drinking and gain the finest mentor an attacking player could wish for.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Fernando Torres is on his way to London to complete a £48million move to Chelsea, talkSPORT understands.

The Liverpool star handed in a transfer request at the back end of last week and is now poised to finalise a deal at Stamford Bridge where he arrives at the club's training ground later this afternoon.

The two clubs have agreed a fee of £48million, but it is unclear at this stage whether or not Nicolas Anelka will go to Anfield as part of the deal.

Liverpool are expected to step up their efforts to sign Newcastle star Andy Carroll once the Torres deal is confirmed.

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay is waiting at the club's Cobham training ground for the arrival of Fernando Torres in order to complete a deal worth £80 million in transfer fee and wages.

Chelsea will pay £45 million with a large chunk up front, plus a basic salary of £200,000-a-week - plus bonuses - which will almost double Torres' current £110,000-a-week deal at Liverpool.

A five-year contract with signing-on fee would be worth £35 million - bringing the overall investment to a staggering £80 million.

A deal in principle has already been hammered out in advance of the 11pm GMT transfer deadline, but the final hurdle is Liverpool finding a replacement.

Liverpool's new owners have pledged all the £45 million cash from the transfer to Kenny Dalglish to spend in bringing in at least two or even three new signings to cushion the blow of losing Torres.

Abramovich has his own private jet on standby to take Torres from the Liverpool training ground in Melwood to Cobham as soon as Liverpool give the green light to the transfer.

The Liverpool owners have been stunned to discover that Chelsea think their asking price of £50 million is far too much, but Roman Abramovich has now sanctioned a bid of £45 million. There have been four failed attempts in the last week to sign the player, including an exchange deal involving Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool, though, were not keen on the youngster and, while they would have taken back Nicolas Anelka, the Frenchman declined to return to Anfield.
