Torres body language

I'm not sure what it is, and it's not just tonight but Torres's body language doesn't look right to me? I don't think it's match fitness, he just seems well moody/off. I know Rafa has commented on him bickering with refs/players and he's got to pack it in. Doesn't seem happy to me :s

I'd be moody too if the only way I could get the ball was to drop off 20 metres deep and collect it with my back to the goal.

Impossible for him to get into the game without service.

Probably realises he's going to be double marked every game along with Gerrard and when they do find space the guy who could ping to them has fucked off back to Spain. I'd be depressed as well, it's easy for teams to mark them out for special treatment and leave the space to our other 'forwards'.

It's not just his body language - it's his general play. In our first three matches, he's been really shit. And yes, I know he's scored two goals, and I know that's what strikers are there for, but there is definitely something wrong with Fernando at the moment.

its hard for the lad with gerrard dropping deeper to get the ball to make up for lucas' shortcomings only to have your manager then criticise you in the press.

he looks like he's been battered all over the place. i'm sure his class will tell sooner or later as long as he isn't left exposed like this

I'd like to think the Confederations Cup, having a kid, travelling to South East Asia pre-season and then heading back to play for Spain has him less than fresh.
Being battered and general frustration at our play is not helping either.

We played well against Stoke, created loads of chances and scored four goals. And Torres was our worst player that night, in spite of his goal.

he's being targetted, Villa had both centrebacks on him every time tonight

when that happens we should really bring another striker on like Voronin, when he did Torres escaped his markers and we got back in to the game but it was far too late. then Gerrard did that stupid tackle

torres is just fed up of getting booted with no protection. drogba who is bigger and stronger gets far more protection.

Exactly.

But today was just his time of the month.

That elbow in the first half was a disgrace, and the ref was appalling. All the same, Torres just seems locked in a negative attitude this season.

Rafa got criticized by some in the press for bringing up the question of Nando's attitude in public. But it might have been his last resort. I am sure he talked about this in private with Torres many times and the decision to air those concerns in public means that the private conversations for whatever reason didn't work.

I have to say Torres is far from the only one who's attitude disappointed me in the Villa game. Masher is shouting obscenities at the ref CONSTANTLY and that looks bad and can hurt the team. Reina uncharacteristically lost his cool too - that deflection off Skrtel was fairly obvious. Gerrard often looks like he is entitled to receive favors from the referee and, in fact, he often does. Even Kuyt pays too much attention to the refs nowadays. It doesn't help that Rafa and Sammy Lee seem to be obsessed with referees - sure some decisions have not gone our way, but that's not why we lost 2 games. Rafa should start with himself and look to correct the team's weaknesses instead of fuming at every minor refereeing decision that goes against us.

Whatever language his body is talking, it looks just fine to me.

Creepy.

Why? He's gorgeous.

I thought about this last year around the time the scored the long range winner against Sunderland. (Not sure if I mentioned it on here, but some sucker might wish too look it up). At the start of last season he seemed uninterested, moaned a lot and I was worried that he was home sick, it worked out ok though.

If we have a disappointing season I wouldn't be surprised if he were to look for another club! I hope it doesn't happen, but i wouldn't be surprised. The same goes for Masch too.

I'm sure it takes more than 3 matches of getting beaten up, extremely limited service and two poor results to make him want to leave....

I hope it does anyway. If we need another striker up front to take some heat off Torres', then bring Fowler back, he's kicking centerbacks in the face with BOTH feet right now and not even getting booked.

If Riera leaves as people have been rumouring on here, that'd be three of the Spanish contingent departing the club during the Summer, leaving himself and Reina the only playing staff from there so he may miss his amigos.

torres needs to look at himself and ask what's changed. in his debut season he was kicked from pillar to post v reading in the carling cup but he just dusted himself off and bagged a hattrick, so what's changed nando?

Maybe he's grown tired of being kicked about.

Anyways, I think it's just frustration at the team not playing well. The whole team looked frustrated last night... and unable to do a whole lot about it.

that's like a defender getting tired of attackers diving when they challenge. it stinks (hard challenges on forwards) but it's the nature of the game.

I'm not defending him, but I understand him. He was kicked, elbowed and shoved countless of timer. The ref saw another way each time.

But he's not exactly alone with that happening is he? Happens to every other striker in the league.

I dunno, he seems disinterested. Maybe it's his way of dealing with everything going on around him or something. But he doesn't look 'up for it' at all.

He's not fully match fit and he needs to stop all the sulking bollocks and get on his game. Quickly.
