You defended Alonso's reason to move. Anita, and that was after nearly winning the league!

You cannot be pissed off for Torres considering his posititon after finishing 7th, having no budget, no new owners, and a new manager.

Hey hey, easy now. That was a totally different situation, and everyone knows it. Alonso was treated like crap by Benitez, and was left with very little choice but to leave.

Torres' circumstances are totally different.

[Bites tongue]

I would imagine the supposed imminence of the club's sale is pretty much what he wants to talk about. If Broughton/Purslow guarantees new owners and big transfer funds before the end of the year, he'll stay. If they umm and aah, he'll think about leaving.

How can they "guarantee" any of that?

Answer: they can't.

Potential new owners who could turn the club around.

Also, FFF, I hope you're right about Gerrard, like I've said before I can live with Torres leaving, but I'd be heartbroken if Gerrard left.

has this been posted yet?

Jose Antonio Martin was quoted as saying Torres could be set to leave Anfield for another English club, but he has now claimed the comments have been fabricated.

"For many months I have not spoken to the England press because their quotes are totally false," he said. "Now is not the moment to speak about this issue because Torres is focused completely on his work for Spain.

"After the World Cup, (player-agency company) Bahia Internacional will possibly meet with the player but the truth is that Fernando has signed a deal with Liverpool which is for the present and the future."

Chelsea and Manchester City have been strongly linked with Torres.

I think a return home to one of his country's biggest clubs and the magnificent fee Liverpool obtained oiled the wheels for that deal. I'm not sure that his or our perception of the way he was or wasn't treated would have made much difference.

In the same vein, if another major club came in for Torres with a large bid which satisified all parties then the deal would be done, similar to Ronaldo's. Money over feelings anyday, I think.

Look, if a non-premiership side came in with a £60million bid for him, I'd sell him.

Money over feelings for Torres. But not for Gerrard.

Torres deal is very, very close

By Paul Lagan Wednesday, 7th July 2010

Spanish hitman days from signing for Blues.

Chelsea are very close to signing Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. The recent signing of Yossi Benayoun was signposted almost two months ago here on Chelsea-Mad.
At that time we also stated that Double-winners Chelsea were keen to land the Spanish hitman. However summer holidays for Chelsea’s top brass and Torre’s involvement in the World Cup meant that formal talks were delayed. But thankfully Chelsea’s footballing board have got their act together and talks with Torres’s agent are at an advanced but delicate stage. Chelsea have to be careful not to play hard-ball with Torres as he is also keen to hear what Barcelona are offering.

Chelsea are clear domestic favourites as they can offer Torres Champions League football and a wage packet second only to Manchester City. However Torres is keen to move to London which puts the Londoners in pole position.Chelsea see Torres, 26 as the ideal foil for Didier Drogba as the Blues seek to land Europe’s top trophy for the first time next season.

The move is also a shrewd footballing one as it will enable Chelsea to gradually ease Nicolas Anelka out of the picture in a season’s time. Chelsea’s medical team have advised the Chelsea football board that they will ensure a through medical check is made of Torres and a bespoke training regime developed for a player seemingly prone to injury. Chelsea are confident that there will not be a major doubt over his long-term fitness and as such have convinced Roman Abramovich that a final bid close to £70million will be enough to prise Torres from Anfield. Torres will take an extended holiday after this weekend’s World Cup final matches. Chelsea want to have an agreement in place by Wednessday of next week but sources within the club have told Chelsea-Mad that it could take two more weeks to solve all outstanding issues.

Chelsea-mad, sounds like chelsea fans own version of koptalk-esq type site

Bullshit piled on top of more bullshit.

is it run by a cockney version of fat dunk ?

Sorry, but any news report with that many spelling and grammar errors can't possibly be taken very seriously!

I'm sure Torres is considering his options but I doubt it has got to that stage yet, or anywhere near it

Broughton would never get out alive if this deal goes through.

what would the fans do to him? bugger all.

Old Paul is pretty reliable breaking news of future Chelsea signings 😉

Spanish wing man Silva on Chelsea radar

By Paul Lagan Thursday, 24th June 2010

£35m to land Valencia star

With Joe Cole released, Chelsea are setting their sights on Spanish wing wonder David Silva.
The Valencia player , 24 would fit neatly into Chelsea’s side and is a player much-admired not only by Chelsea but by Liverpool skipper Stevie Gerrard.
I spoke to Gerrard not so long ago and asked him which player he would like to see Liverpool buy.
His instant response was “Silvaâ€.
“Silva can play either flank,†said the England skipper. “He would provide the bullets for Torres.â€
Now it appears that Silva might be providing the ammo for Drogba and Anelka next season.
A £35million pound offer is expected to be table next week with, if accepted, seeing Chelsea medical staff heading off to South Africa to perform a medical.
Manchester City were hopeful to be the only Premier league side in the running for Silva, and they will have to up their £30m offer.
But It’s believed Silva would prefer to move to a London club with Chelsea the only side capable in the capital of landing him.
The lure of being with Premier League champions could prove to be decisive and the prospect of another serious tilt at the Champions League irresistible.
Silva could still be partnered with Torres as Chelsea are waiting for Liverpool to announce their new manager before tabling a £55m for the hitman.
Chelsea need to ad serious8s world-class quality to the squad following the departure of Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, Juilano Belletti and the imminent departure of Portugal midfielder Deco.

The supposed offers for Torres quoted in these various snippets range between £25 mill.and £75 mill. What a load of guano.

I'll rephrase. There would be big kerfuffle about it, but obviously Broughton wouldn't be killed or anything.

Silva was already a big rumour anyway wasn't he?
Signed for City though didnt he?
Well yeah, but it's not like there wasn't already rumours there.

My point is that this guy who tells us Torres is going to Chelsea was also convinced that Silva was going there too, as he preferred a move to London.
