This from a Bayern supporter :
It staggers me how different the view on Kroos is from the outside to the view in Germany. English view seems to be that he is prolific CM, scoring goals, providing assists. Most of you seem to think he is the main target man at Munich and you wonder why we don't want to pay him the money he wants.
From our point, there are a lot of good reasons for it. He is a good player, no doubt about it, very talented. But he is in no way our key player or target man. He got a lot of games this season yes, featuring in every important one, getting the most gametime. But that's due to him being basically our only midfielder this year without injuries. I mean look at it, Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Thiago, all out for large part of the season. That would have been the midfield this year and it was when all of them were fit.
He is a passing machine. Problem is, besides that, he isn't offering much. He's good at shooting from the distance, but he's not using that all to often. He isn't a dribbler, and he is slow. He's not able to play a defensive role, don't EVER try that. It failed miserably, just look at the game against Italy at the Euros.
Also he tends to get lost at big games, contributing nothing. That's the main reason he's not a starter for Germany and disliked by a lot of fans. He's lethargic not only sometimes but often.
In this case, statistics don't lie. In a side scoring nearly 100 goals in the Bundesliga, he scored 2 of them, assisting 4. 1 in Champions League and 2 Assists in 12 games. Besides players like Weiser and Hojbjerg, he is the worst scorer in the team, even behind Shaqiri.
Why do we want to keep him at a certain price? He's very good at keeping the ball, his passing skills are amazing, he never fell lower than 90% completion. He's extraordinary in resisting harsh pressing. Important for Guardiola. But Thiago offers more already.
But, with contributing not enough offensively and being useless defensively, he is a very specific (and, should someone give him the money he wants, a very expensive) answer to a very specific question. He will always be over par in teams with high ball possession, but I don't see him to ever be a key player in a truly great side. All in all, you have to ask yourselfs: does our squad and style of play even inherit the question at hand? In my opinion, if this transfer is to happen, United will be very disappointed due to high expectations.
