Dann is better than most of the dross we have though, and is only 23. Red and a scouser. That is acutally important imho, we need someone who understands what wearing the shirt is all about.
No he's not.

Skrtel, Agger, Carragher - all better.

And then we've got half a dozen others who are all capable. If we're gonna get a CB, fine, get a fucking quality one i.e. not Scott Dann.
I haven't seen dann but if you think skrtel is better than he (dann) must be fucking shit.

Skrtel and Agger have had no more than a handul of bad games in their career. Dann's had no more than a handful of good ones.

Agger has only played a handful of games lately.

I wouldn't mind keeping Skrtel, but both the Greek and Agger will need replacing. IF Agger can stay injury free than thats a different story, but at the moment we're paying 70k a week for someone who is never fit. The Greek will be finished after this season though.

We have enough quantity in our central defense, I feel Scott Dann wouldn't really bring anything new in there. Not enough to justify his probably overinflated price anyway. This would be exactly the kind of signing we shouldn't be doing anymore. If he's available on relatively cheap price then no problem but what we really need is a quality defender who can lead the line and be our #1 defender for years.

Haven't been linked to him yet, but I'd be amazed if Roy isn't seeing him as a perfect buy...

Christopher Samba has revealed he wants to leave Blackburn after being angered by the decision to sack manager Sam Allardyce.

Indian food group Venky's only took charge at Ewood Park last month but have quickly made their presence felt by dispensing with the services of Allardyce.
The experienced tactician had guided Rovers to a position of security during a two-year reign and his departure came as a major surprise.

Steve Kean has been placed in caretaker charge and Sky Sports News understands he is on course to be named as the new boss on a permanent basis.

However, the club may have to cope without their captain and key defender Samba after he was quoted as saying he no longer wants to stay.

The 26-year-old has been so infuriated by the way that Allardyce was treated by the new owners that he is contemplating his future.

"If this is the way the club's going to be run from now on, I don't want to be part of it and I want to leave," Samba said in The Lying Rag.

Answers needed

"As captain it's very difficult to say this but I've thought long and hard about it. Nobody in football understands the decision to sack Sam.

"We could have been relegated last year and Sam saved the club, so how can he be treated like this now?"

Samba exempted chairman John Williams from blame, though, before pleading for a swift decision over Allardyce's replacement.

"I'm sure Mr Williams would not have made this decision. He's a football man and respects what a great job Sam has done," he said.

He added: "The players and fans need answers about the club's future. Unless we commit to who the manager is, how can we attract big players in January?"

The arsenal cl match was a beaut.

Its also home to possibly my favourite fernando torres goal.

I miss that fernando.

Samba? No way. He's a clumsy cunt.

This. I shudder every time we're linked with a mediocre useless twat, like Konchesky.

Liverpool's £11 million wing wonder target could be available 'on loan'
Liverpool and Sunderland set to battle for Adam Johnson
By Will Haine December 22, 2010

GMFAccording to the Daily Mail, Sunderland are attempting to sign the 23-year-old 'on loan' for the remainder of the season Reported Liverpool target Adam Johnson could be on his way out of Manchester City next month.

According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland are attempting to sign the 23-year-old 'on loan' for the remainder of the season, as well tabling a bid to sign Nedum Onuoha on a permanent basis.

However, should Johnson become available, Liverpool are thought to be in the running for the England winger who has grown increasingly frustrated at his lack of regular football under Roberto Mancini.

Last month the former Middlesbrough star - who signed for City for around £11 million in January - let his frustration get the better of him, admitting he may have to leave Eastlands in order to fulfil his ambitions.

Johnson told the Telegraph: "Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes. It is still early but I definitely would consider [leaving]."

These comments placed Liverpool - and others - on red alert and offers for the highly-rated attacker are now expected in January.

Johnson would certainly provide Liverpool with the added potency they so crave after Roy Hodgson admitted to the over reliance on the goalscoring prowess of Anfield stars Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool boss is understood to have identified his attacking ranks as the most in need of reinforcement in the New Year and - along with a bid for Johnson - has been linked with moves for Aston Villa ace Ashley Young and Spurs flop David Bentley.

Hodgson is expected to be backed in the transfer market by new Liverpool owners NESV with upwards of £20 million in his pursuit of fresh blood come January 1.

Along with Liverpool director of football strategy, Damien Comolli, the Reds manager has been keeping tabs on a number of attack-minded players with a view to bringing them to Anfield next month.

I'd be reasonably happy with Johnson and Young. However i'm not sure we'd see the best out of either of them with this two deep narrow banks of four shit we play these days.

I wouldn't be happy with Bentley. When everyone had their cocks out over him before he went to Spurs I was in the minority who didn't want him. I've always thought he is just a shit version of Beckham and i've seen nothing to change my mind.

having a deep defensive line becomes less relavent if you have direct wide players with pace.

Johnson on loan would be too good to be true. Don't City would allow him come to us. He seems a bit of a cunt but a very good player.

He isn't performing for them at the minute though. I'd still take a punt on him, but in a way I almost hope they don't allow him to come to us. If they do, it'll show they don't see us as thratening their position any time soon.

If we had wingers I fail to see how people think we'd still play narrow. We play narrow now because we don't have any wingers

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has joined Fulham and Arsenal in the race for Southampton youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, son of former England winger Mark Chamberlain, is rated in the £10million bracket by Southampton and has scored five goals in 21 games this season.

Some club staff believe he has greater potential than Theo Walcott at the same age.

Oxlade-Chamberlain became the second youngest debutant — behind Walcott — in the League One club’s history in March when he made his first Southampton appearance aged 16 years and 199 days.

He is an established first-team regular this season but has mainly figured on the wing.

Weeks? He's been doing it for at least 5 or 6 years. He just happens to disappear every so often for a while.

Seconded, Binny is great (and possibly a robot).

'Reasonably happy'? I'd be over the moon if we managed to get Young and
Johnson.

But why would City give us anyone on loan when they've already taken a stance that they won't sell to us, let alone loan a player

Yes and no Mark. He's quality, but then I'll never forget that dance he did at the Anny Rd end when we beat them in the CL.
I don't remember the dance but I do recall him doing some silly, fake prayer after his goal just as Babel was being brought down for the penalty.
