Today's games

It seems pretty clear they are gonna hit the ground running this year and be the team to catch, thats somewhat unusual for Utd as they tend to start slowly and move up the gears throughout the season, 7 preseason games 7 wins including Barca and Man City I have a horrible feeling they are gonna walk the title this year unless they get a serious run of injuries to key players, but thats more Arsenals style

Watched the game at silly o clock this morning and was happy to see City take the lead. However, they fell to pieces. Rooney dropped deep and no one picked him up. At one stage he was left unmarked in the penalty area. Kolarov has a fine left foot but neither him nor Cliche are that defensively sound. Kompany is a fantastic player but his one error cost them the game. Cliche might have been way out of position (as per usual) but Kompany should have addressed the situation by attacking the ball and getting rid. Yaya looked tired and sloppy, Dzeko couldn't keep the ball or pass to his own players and Silva wasn't utilised effectively and looked classy whenever he got on the ball. Adam Johnson looked lively when he came on in fairness and they still have Kun and possibly Tevez waiting to come back in so i'll reserve judgement on City for while.

United's second goal was excellent. Ripped City apart. United are the team to beat AGAIN.

Fergie even got to take Rio and Vidic off at HT and still win. I was pissed off at that too. On a side note Jones looks the part and a cunt.

Just watched the game.
Manchester United were fucking superb. Really superb.
Thats the shit we need to aspire to.

Fo'real.

We're years, if not decades away from that though.

They've got a culture, a playing style, a mentality, a club and players that are a million miles ahead of us.

Kenny's effectively starting from scratch in all these areas.

I though decades was a bit extreme aswel Ryan.

Hopefully Kenny can instal that winning mentality and never saw die ethos United seem to have. Now we have a strong squad we can kick on. The plan should be to crack the top four this season and then do what united do, add one or two high profile players to their healthy squad.

Well I guess I was looking at over a sustained period. We may be able to catch up and compete with them for the league some time soon, but in the bigger picture they're fucking miles ahead of us. They've won the league 6/7 times in the last 10 years and are a bigger club than we could ever dream of. We don't even know what our playing style is going to look like, and they're scoring goals like that second one yesterday.

So I s'pose I think we're a long long way off them in quite a few ways.

Considering they have been consistently blowing away all comers in the title race for two decades while we have slipped further and further back to a point where we are no longer even credible challengers then I dont think its such a wild statement to make. Unfortunately it seems the only way to bridge that gap these days is to pump hundreds of millions into the club like City and Chelsea, we dont have that option. We will be spectators with regards to the title race for a long time to come yet

With Suarez in the team, that second goal is the sort of thing we can do I would say.
having that type of ethic isn't about an individual, it's about a mentaility that is ingrained in the entire team.

decades off? were manu decades off when we won our last league title in '90?
things move in cycles, the unfortunate thing is manu aren't making the same mistakes we made, they are squeezing every last drop put of the experienced players (scholes giggs) we sold ours (beardo, aldo) they are also strengthening while they are strong. it's pretty depressing, but we aren't decades off, more like a few good players and a never say die attitude.

I think a window of opportunities might open when Ferguson leaves. Not sure it will happen, but I do hope we are around there to take advantage if it happens.
Other than this - we will have to do it all perfectly right and hope for our share of luck to be able to challenge. I wouldn't entirely rule that out, although the odds do not look very promising.

before the transfer window opened, I said the top two places will be taken by manu and chelsea and the next two places will be challenged by city, arsenal, spurs and ourselves and nothing has happened in the transfer window to make me change that opinion.

I don't fear United. I'm fearless.

De Gea is obviously a very talented young keeper but he's going to drop them points this Season left, right and center. At least that's what I reckon will happen. Perhaps he'll even get benched and then they've got to play at this level a completely unproven Lindegaard, whom despite a lot of ability, obviously will drop them points as well.

And just as I'm not going to put to much emphasis on our trainingmatches I won't when it comes to our rivals either. Yeah there's a cup at stake but it's still a Pre-Season not-so-friendly.

I'm not going to shake any pants before we're at least five games into the Season and I've got a sneaky feeling that we're off to a flyer and will make our rivals shake their pants as much as any.

In the long run this Season I believe Citeh will be more a match for us than United. It'll probably be one the most tight Premier League's for years actually.

Let the games begin.

Well he cost them the goal and the game so ......

Clichy in defensive blunder SHOCKA.

We scored some beautifully crafted goals in the second half of last season. Utd's yesterday was special, but I'd be much more concerned with results than I would be about scoring beautiful goals. Besides, if we get on a winning run, the confidence will flow, and the beautiful goals will follow.

I don't believe their players are that far ahead Ryan, their strength has always been in their culture and mentality, average players have been slotted into that system efficiently time and time again. We could do with another unpredictable attacker and we need to get the backline sorted, but that's about as far as it goes in terms of personnel, we've scored some great goals too.

Has anyone got a link to this super dooper wonder goal? I bet it's nothing more than good.

Also does anyone have a link to Dzeko's goal?

It's a great move and very well crafted, but we've scored some beauts in the last few years aswell.

That second United goal was fantastic, it has to be said.
I was in the gym watching it and maybe due to exhaustion or lack of blood flow to my head i actually applauded when i saw it.... it will never happen again.

City have got a mental squad, theyve bought so many players you almost forget who've theyve got, sub after sub 20M pounds players.... They need to sort it out going forward, and as Dzeko... he looks fucking terrible

So if Young does his knee and Carra does Nanis leg properly this time i reckon we can overhaul them cunts ....I was delighted to see De gea look shite ...

To be honest I thought Kompany was mostly to blame? He should've just kicked the ball into orbit instead of trying to make a clever touch as their last man. Very amateurish defending.

Okay it was pretty good.

City were shite. It's all well and good saying Man Utd were amazing but city were fucking crap. That second goal looked great but that's because the city players just stood there like a bunch of cones.

LOL@ Clichy too. I guess that's another mistake to add to his record.

went hunting for the highlights expecting that the manu 2nd goal would eclispe the brazil '70 vintage. some good interchanges around the box and a clinical finish and that's it, barca do that shit every other week.

Thought Young looked very very ordinary tbh. We got the better deal and player imho.

fantastic delivery for the 1st manu goal. I'd wager most of young's assists come from set pieces whilst most of downing's come from open play.

90 - Man Utd have scored a 90th minute goal in 4 of their last 5 wins v Man City, (3 winners, the other an aggregate winner). Ruthless.
