I'm not normally into all this hyperbole regarding the new Peles and Ronaldos of this world but in the case of Neymar I'll make an exception.

He looks absolutely marvellous.

Dammit.

I'm hoping that this is finally us playing hardball...

It was in our best interest to sell Mascherano asap so we could use the funds to improve the squad.. Other teams are being very patient to see if we reduce our cost significantly just to get the ball rolling - If we keep Mascherano we risk losing him for next to nothing next year and he seems to be very unhappy at present.

This should move things a bit quicker as Rafa will have to make a move if he wants his man - I have no doubt that Rafa would love him at Inter and even at 25million he is getting a bargain..

However.. if this deal with Barcelona is true - id be fucking gutted.

Depends where they come from. 😉

If it is anywhere near 15 million euros I expect some absolutely bad ass clauses based on performances etc to recoup some extra cash.

I'd be amazed if Hleb came as part of any deal, just because Barca don't need or want him doesn't mean they can shoe horn his value into any deal.

Birmingham enquires regarding Babel.

I was wondering if they'd be back for him after the Camoranesi deal fell through.

Interesting piece in The Times by Marcotti about the latest United transfer (the homeless, bedraggled looking cunt, Bebe)

Sounds dodgy as fuck

Playing third division football last season, signs for Vitoria this June on a *free*, and 5 weeks later, without playing a competitive game, signs for United for 7 million

Hmmmmmm x 7 million

Quieroz recommendation, Player broke his contract with the club to sign for United so the 7m seems cmpensation cover the compensation for doing so.

But 7mill? For a third division player? How could they know what he's worth based on that? And Gill said he'd only been on 'their radar' very recently

So they paid that based on his displays in pre-season?!

Obv now I've brought this up, the shit-haired tramp will be the next Didier Drogba

They must trust Quieroz's judgment.

I don't think Fergie saw him before he set foot in Manchester

It was a pretty weird deal, but you have to assume that unless it was designed to pad some peoples pockets, they feel they've stumbled upon someone potentially special.

Well, obviously my ideal scenario would be: massive flop, dodgy Mendes dealings, a corruption trial, and a coronary

We shall see

Tony Barrett in the Times: "Nacho Monreal, the 24-year-old Osasuna defender who has two caps for Spain, is the latest left back to come under consideration by Hodgson as he seeks to fill Liverpool’s problem position."

Rory Smith saying that reports in France suggest we're in for Andre Pierre-Gignac.
[/quote]

Nooooooooooooooo...

Essentials:

Toulouse decided to lower his price from €15m to €10m a few weeks ago.

His agent is trying to persuade him to go to Liverpool, but the player would prefer Marseille, and he's waiting to see whether they sign Luis Fabiano or not.

I hope he goes to Marseille. He's all bustle and muscle and not enough skill. Or goals for that matter - 8 in 31 last season. He was outshone by Johann Elmander at Toulouse, put it that way.

I was listening to City yesterday and Ian St John doing the phone in.... Anyway, apparently no one in Lisbon, let alone Portugal knows much about him, no one was in for him anyway.

I hope that we sign an established LB with his best years ahead instead of some injury prone never was hoping to miraculously make a career at Anfield.

The fact that Roy is undertaking scounting trips at least gives me some confidence.

PSV Eindhoven’s Toivonen becomes Liverpool target

PSV Eindhoven attacker Ola Toivonen has emerged as a target for Liverpool according to reports.

The 24-year old Swede is being linked with a £5million Anfield move after Roy Hodgson watched him for his national team against Scotland last week.

Toivonen joined PSV in 2009 from Malmo FF and has a very strong goalscoring record in the Dutch Eredivisie, making him an attractive proposition for Hodgson.

Cant we just sign Luis Fabiano instead?

Hmm, this is interesting. The few times I've seen him play, he's struck me as an Eidur Gudjohnsen type, which is of course a good thing. Any Scandinavian fans to offer more insight?

5 goals in 2 games so far, and look like the best Swedish stiker talent for a very long time.

24 goals in 49 games so far for PSV and at 6'4 he's got the frame to be a good link up player aswell. Still only 24 years old.

Good enough for us? Thats a toughy. I said that about Hangeland, not being good enough, and look what he did in the Premier League.

Roy has a good record with signings like this, but it's a big risk.

5 million shouldn't be a big risk mate. Scandinavian players generally adapt well to the PL and turn out to be reliable players, at the very least, if not world class.

I'd be pleased if this comes off given the little I've seen of Toivonen. I'm waiting for KHL or someone who's seen him play regularly to give a more complete picture of how he is as a player.
