I just can't understand the negativity to signing him on here. He's got at least 3 years left in him so amortising that it's ca. £8m a year for one of the world's pre-eminent midfielders. A player who could certainly be influential in us winning more trophies (meaning more money and the ability to bankroll more players) and who could play in a number of midfield formations. As well as being the extra midfielder we are definitely short at the moment.

Make hay whilst The Lying Rag shines, there's no certainty in investing only in young players and when Klopp leaves everything will mutate anyway.
 
If that game didn't show his talents off to the owners, and how crucial his signing could be, then what's the point.
 
We have missed a conductor type midfielder at times.

I'd definitely take him, think of what he could pass on to the younger team members too.
 
He was definitely good last night but he had so much space last night. Except for suarez who fouled him couple of times, Barca midfielders did not bother coming near him. Most premier league teams will provide far more of a challenge than yesterday.
 
He is an obviously talented player. But I cannot help wondering - This appears to fit the profile of the type of purchase United did post Ferguson like Schweinsteiger etc. Whereas we stayed away from purchasing such brand name purchases and focused on players like Gini, Mane, Salah.

So why abandon the strategy now? Wouldnt it be better to spend the money on players like Aouar.

Maybe, I dunno. I just want this to be done and dusted.
This transfers does puzzle me a bit considering the amount of midfielders we already have. One or two have to go.
