The Trent in midfield debate: Chapter 66

look mate, you yourself are establishing the case for Trent at MF.
1. Energy, Trent already has bundles and loads of it. Playing a RB role in Klopp's system doesn't come cheap. 2. Ok, passing tempo will not be so straightforward to match because Hendo has played there for years and has natural intelligence to play quick passes. Trent can definitely develop it. He already has it and so adept at finding the front three with penetrating passes. I think if given time, he would be even better than Hendo. 3. Positional sense is also a matter of experience and intelligence. Trent already helps so much in our attack. I cant remember the stats but he is the most creative player in Liverpool shirt in last few months. He makes all the right runs. 4. Trent himself will be a great asset in terms of helping the defence as he knows exactly what help would a RB need in case he plays in MF. 5. There are so many occasions Hendo makes a run to the byline and puts brilliant crosses in the box. I can remember the one against ManCity (i guess last season) and Mane had scored the goal. Trent can easily replicate that. The only thing stopping Trent at MF is another equally capable RB suiting Klopp's system. I hope Neco plays there more since we can not rely on one player for the whole season. We also can not rely on Heno/Milner for their leadership in MF forever and we need to start somewhere soon.
I really am not.

And whilst I appreciate the effort that has gone into your lengthy post, much of it is just random tripe. He’s played in defence so he knows how to help a defence” is naive at best.

Supplanting TAA and Henderson at right back and CM, for Neco Williams and TAA at right back and CM is bona fide fucking madness.

ohhhh you mean your initial post was tripe because I simple tried to elaborate your points and tried to understand your point of view better.

And which one is more naive 1. He's played in defence so he knows how to help defence or 2. Without giving Trent enough chances in the midfield or even without experimenting, he can not play in midfield.

Nope.

I simply said I think he looks so good because of the space and time playing at RB gives him. I also said that I hadn’t seen anything from his passing in tight spaces that tells me he can be as effective in CM, and I don’t see calmness with and without the ball or any tactical know-how to make him an effective midfielder.

To continue your twisted shit logic, I also don’t support putting him in goal or at centre forward to improve him in those positions either.

OK !
I can see Trent and his current set of skills to give us a midfielder in the future as hybrid of Ox at his best and Hendo to some level. But we will leave it there then.

Stevie Me scored 27 goals the season he played on the right wing. That's because it's easier playing on the right wing than in the middle. Leave the poor little cunt where he is.

This is really the best argument.
His current position gives him the freedom to display his skills without the need for all the "invisible" work Gini does (pun fully intended)

Trent in midfield or not we defo need more creativity in that midfield. Thiago isn't enough for my liking. Maybe Harvey Elliot can "do a Foden" add become that player that dribbling attacking midfielder that we need. If not him then we need to sign someone as Keita looks like help never make the grade and I think Ox and Shaq are off for the same reasons.

In a 1990's style 4-4-2 I think Trent in a Beckham-type right midfield role would be a no brainer. But teams don't play that way anymore.
