What's your prediction this season?

1. Arsenal
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. City
5. Scum
6. Spurs

It's interesting that no one on here fancies city for the title. I wonder what to make of that.

Goals-wise, I think if benteke keeps up his 1 in 2, and the other players chip in as expected, then on goals alone we should be back in the top 4. Much like the Suarez season, we had a pretty shit defence but drove our way to 2nd just on goals.
I think city and the scum need a goalscorer before the window shuts, so for me, one of those 2 drops out.

Chelski
Arse
Us
City
Scum
Spurs

City, Arsenal, United and Spurs all need more players, I'll wait to see who they get (or if De Gea leaves) before committing !

I'm impressed by Milner, happy with Clyne, surprised by Gomez, encouraged by Benteke, Firmino and Ings, and neutral on Bodgan and Origi. This looks like our best summer of transfers (and loan returns) under Rodgers, and I'm quite sure we'll set about to right some wrongs from last season. Like Frogfish said, the question is how much more the other teams do in the remaining weeks.

I don't expect Spurs to add much more though as they've got a stadium to build. Another couple of strikers is definitely desperately needed there, so I expect someone like Charlie Austin or Berahino for 15m to 20m as a desperate move, together with a cheapish young striker from France or Spain.

Right now, if there are no more additions to everyone and barring injury crises, I think it'll end up like this:
-- Chelsea
-- City
-- Arsenal
-- Man Utd
-- Liverpool
-- Spurs

But I think we've got a good shout at a top four spot if Sturridge is fit and firing for 25+ games, or if Giroud / Sanchez or Rooney are crocked for 2 to 3 months.

I nearly went for them actually, as I reckon they may well have more in their locker than the Chavs in terms of attacking play, but they don't look secure at CB to me, and even up front they might have a problem if Aguero picks up an injury.

IMO their neighbours are being widely overrated, in this thread and elsewhere, as their squad currently stands. As always it would be daft to write them off totally, but they still need big signings at CB and striker, and de Gea's head already seems to be in Madrid if van Gaal's comments are anything to go by.

The standard in the league has been quite low for the past couple of seasons and unlike most of the last 25 years when we've been hopelessly trying to compete with Man United (Giggs, Cantona, Keane, Scholes, Schmeichel etc) or Arsenal (Petit, Viera, Henry, Adams, Bergkamp etc) or Chelsea (Terry, Essien, Makelele, Drogba, Robben etc)....there really isn't any team we need to fear now.

There are reasons why all the favoured teams COULD fuck up e.g. an injury to Hazard, John Terry's begin's to show signs wear-and-tear, an injury to Aguero, Arsenal's defensive frailties, United losing De Gea and not strengthening their poor defence etc.

Our squad is capable of challenging for the title and IF Firmino (who I know little about) turns out to be a Suarez-type signing then I can see us winning the thing this season. I've backed us at 30/1 just because I think this season is a genuinely open 5 horse race.

For the simple reason than I can make a case for all of the top teams fucking up I'm going................................

1. Liverpool
2. Arsenal
3. Chelsea
4. United
5. Spurs
6. City

I will accept the accusation that I am possibly even more of a cockeyed optimist than Mark1975.

I like this post.

Do not understand why people have placed us lower than Spurs? Did they even buy anyone? Kane is not likely to repeat his goals feat of last season. Eriksson seems to be looking out for his next move. Lamela and Soldado are still shit. What am I missing?

Chelsea surely have potential problems unless they buy
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Begovic, Blackman
Defence: Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Terry, Cahill
Midfield:Ramiers, Matc, Mikel, Fabregas, Hazard, Willian, Oscar Moses, Cuarardo, Salah
Forwards: Costa, Remy, Falcao
U21: Zouma, Chalobah, Ake

Admittedly they are well stocked in midfield but surely weak in defence and up top, but as it stands they are a couple of injuries away from having an issue. Costa is already struggling and Falcao and Terry has to be coming to the end.

Arsenal have the best defensive record in 2015 and have bought Cech. I dont think the defence is the biggest issue tbh if they contine this trend into the new season.
The lack of a top midfielder and striker is their main problem it seems.
