Well there was something with Werner though. We just backed out in the end.

I am with Rosco on this. Have we ever had a transfer where the other club demanded more than twice what we are willing to offer and managed to get it done?

Van Dijkster....

Different situations though. We were getting a marquee player who was going to solve a problem. Our transfer team knew they were going to have a Coutinho windfall coming soon. Also, I don't think our offer for Van Dijk was less than half of Southampton's valuation.

Unless we are selling Salah, Mane, Matip, we appear broke. Is there an incentive for Norwich to bring the price down? They should be getting parachute payments right?
Also, Lewis is going to be a backup.

True

One thing in our favor is that for a young attacking full-back, Klopp is pretty much the best manager out there to help develop his game. So hopefully Jamal recognizes that and pushes for the move.

Roma said 90 + for Alisson and the agreed fee was 66. Thats about the closest we can come I guess.

The thing that gets me about the Echo hacks, in particular, is that it's one thing to claim that it's not financially viable to go into the market, but it's quite another to claim that not going into the market means that Klopp and the transfer team are 'contented' with the squad they already have. That's the leap that these hacks keep on making. Argue that we don't have the money, fine, but don't go from that to arguing that everyone at the club is 'happy' not to buy. We've clearly wanted to buy certain players, and fill certain positions, and apart from back-up for LB we've lost out or seem likely to lose out. Stop spinning it.
