What a shit thread.

Finally...
hmm the shittest posts in a shit thread , says alot .

I cannot be arsed to read the last ten pages, but what the fuck is everyone arguing about.

Suarez was a bit thick to get himself in this situation. He's been here close to a year now - he should know what is acceptable and what isn't. He was even more stupid to admit what he said. There was fuck all evidence at that point and, frankly, I'm amazed the club didn't restrain him.

But, no matter what the verdict, it doesn't make him a horrible cunt worthy of our hate. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt over the doubt over this and continue to support the best footballer at our club. Even if he is a bit thick.

Did you even read my post Oncy? I was explaining the origin and meaning of the word "negrito", then based the rest of my post on the assumption that he used that word and then talk about the cultural differences. Nothing to do with a postcard of a rumour or whatever.. I think I'm in a decent position to speak about it, given that I study Spanish and the culture of South America, as well as the fact that my dad's Nigerian. So if there was any connotations, in my mind - and believe me, I looked for them - then I would find them. I believe that (if he said "negrito&quot😉 he didn't say it with any racial connotations. Would I be offended if he said it to me? Sure, I don't feel comfortable when people drop the N bomb when singing along to songs. But I'm trying to understand why he said it, and understand the meaning. I don't trust the FA as far as I could throw them, so I don't get why you're putting so much faith in their verdict. I wouldn't be surprised if they threw out any suggestion of cultural differences and all that.

And if he said anything other than Negrito then I don't know. And if he said N****er or made some sort of racial slur, then fuck him. He's a cunt. But I don't believe he is.

Tommy Smith - now there's a cunt. But Tommy Smith he is not.

He's probably just a bit of a dumb, stupid, naive boy who can't speak the language and doesn't understand what he's done.*

*if he said "negrito"

And by the way, regarding Evra, the first thing I'd do if I thought someone was being racist would be to either a) lamp the cunt b) tell the referee right away c) tell the referee again when the ref calls me over asking what was going on d) walk off the pitch a la Roberto Carlos.

Evra did none of those things. He went and sulked to the French media. I wouldn't have done that myself. Personally. I imagine if others on here suffered racial abuse would bring it to light immediately. Evra didn't really do that. So I'm not really sure what happened.

In my head, and this is purely conjecture - for the first time in this thread I am posting conjecture - Evra and Suarez got a bit wound up. Suarez said negrito a few times, saw it wound Evra up, said it again - not aware of the racial connotations - the ref came over, told them to both stop being bitches. Evra didn't say anything. After the game Ferguson asked what happened - Evra said he said negrito, Ferguson marched him into the ref's dressing room to put in a complaint, and then Evra went and spoke to the French media.

Evra didn't particularly seem like he'd been racially abused. Pissed off, yeah. Racially abused is a whole other thing all together.

No one really knows what's going on but basing it on what I've read, I think the FA should educate Luis on the conotations of the word he used in this country and ask him to apologise to Evra for any misunderstanding.
This

FULHAM boss Martin Jol says he will be staggered if Liverpool's Luis Suarez is proved to have racially abused Patrice Evra.

The Football Association last night confirmed there will be no verdict on the charges until Tuesday at the earliest.

Jol worked with Suarez during his time as Ajax boss.

And he said: "If it is true, I am surprised. At Ajax we had players from all over the world.

"He was my captain and his job was to make them feel comfortable. He was a real leader. A real leader would never do things like that."

Your first quote was completely out of order, and came on the back of your vilifying the player as being a cheat and that you didn't like him. Dead on, you've since said 'if he's found guilty', but frankly, would you accept the FA panel decision as confirmation of guilt on any issue, never mind one so subtle as this? You would. I wouldnae.

There you go. That's all I have to say. I said earlier that I wasn't going to post in this thread and the reason was because I thought you were posting like a cunt and I didn't want fisty-cuffs with you. My bad for not being able to stay away.
I dont mind if you think im posting like a cunt.
I think youre making a mountain out of a molehill.
As i said (and for the record its not SINCE, ive been saying IF he got found guilty since about page 10 of this thread) Im not hanging him out to dry because nothing is revealed. It makes me really uneasy that posters are more interested in him being not guilty than the actual truth. Ive said since the very start lets wait and see what happens while every other cunt has been arguing about the intent of the word or some spurious cultural nuances that im too fucking stupid to understand, but for me the facts are all that matter, not Halmeisters fucking conjecture because he once got a postcard from a lad who visited fucking Machu Pichu.

If he is found guilty and there isnt an almight stink about it then I would think he probably did something he really shouldnt have that we may or may not find out about. And I wont be fucking clapping my hands together with glee or anything, i'll be gutted. It wont make a massive amount of difference to me to be honest as (as you mentioned) I dont really like cheats and divers and I dont like players who moan at refs and wave imaginary cards and flirt with other clubs while under contract and Suarez is guilty of all those things. So yeah. If he is found guilty that for me would be the straw that broke the camels back. Others will defend him and still love him and say how can I let him walk alone in his hour of need. I'll think not only is he a cunt but a racist too. I cant get behind that.

But its all good. Im sure most of those who have already made their minds up that he is just a poor wee missunderstood immigrant will have myriad excuses ready for him and will be too busy laying into the FA and Evra and Fergie to worry their arses about wether or not the lad actually is a fucking prick.

To he honest , looking at the main points debated here , i don't see why this is so complicated .

If you are willing to excuse a player of any behaviour or wrong doing just because they play for Liverpool then you are obviously wrong and a bit stupid .
The same applies if you are willing to excuse or refuse to acknowledge any wrong doing just because it's against Fergie and United . They're cunts but it doesn't give you the right to cross certain lines and then excuse it .

You can of course , and personally i will , support a player until proven guilty and then after if they admit to their mistake and apologise . But at the same time you should be open to the potential that maybe they are guilty of the accusations against them .

And surely this whole subject should only be debated with the hypothetical "If" in mind considering none of us really know the facts yet . We may be able to make some assumptions but still I don't understand why people are so willing to back one side of the argument just on these assumptions , taking them as if they are fact . Surely you would be better waiting for the facts to come out before deciding fully one way or another . For me too many in this thread have made their minds up way too early .
Really good post. I agree with all of it.

One small amendment. He spoke to the French media *before* going to the dressing room. He actually said, I've been abused but I'm not going to pursue it further. He then goes to the dressing room and is subsequently accompanied by Fergie to the referee's office to report the incident.

Ah well, like I said, I don't really know what happened and never will. It most likely didn't happen that way, it's just how I imagined it went down.

Like you said earlier Doc, I don't think Evra thows around these accusations willy nilly, and something was obviously said. I think maybe a bit of a misunderstanding on each others part. But Evra didn't really act like a man who had truly believed he was racially abused. And if he did, he reacted in a way much better than anybody else would.

I think Kenny's important in all of this, too. I think he can speak a bit of Spanish (?) and I'd trust him over this. I doubt Kenny would back anybody who he thought was being racist.

Sorry Hal, I don't agree that Evra's reaction is somehow a defining point, people react differently and playing all over Europe he must hear that crap all the time.

As for it seeming as though people have already made their minds up; it's probably because people realise the FA are a joke, and Suarez has already admitted to using the term. The difference is just that some have decided that 'he didn't mean it in a bad way' cos in the midst of a heated confrontation he was using an affectionate term, and others for but that.

For the most part I agree with Oncy.

I was it in morocco a few months back and was speaking to some guy and in casual conversation he just dropped the N word, I was shocked and convinced I'd misheard him and asked him to repeat what he's said, he went on to repeat it another few times before realising how gobsmacked and outraged I was. I told him I was really offended as he'd just used a really offensive term, he seemed bemused and genuinely didn't seem to think it was, and kept saying that they uses the term all the time amongst their friends that were black too. I was thrown as I've always thought terms like the N word were universal and understood as being offensive. Perhaps not, and I'm willing to accept that there are terms that are used in other countries that don't have the same social implications or people don't understand the historical baggage. I get that.

But this was a confrontational situation where they were trying to wind each other up, Suarez kept referring to Evra's race, how can anyone think he was being anything other than unpleasant? I don't get it
