The reason for Liverpool's injury crisis - according to Roy Hodgson

FORMER Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson believes he may have the answer to Liverpool’s current injury crisis - surface tension!
The Reds have suffered an unprecedented spate of injuries this season with Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Mamadou Sakho, Jordan Henderson and Jon Flanagan all on the long-term sicklist.
While Reds skipper James Milner pulled out of the most recent England squad with a thigh strain.
Hodgson, who was without 15 regulars for England’s friendly in Spain on Friday due to injury, believes modern pitches could be to blame.
“I honestly believe the pitches, strangely enough, in getting so much better in some cases have provoked more injuries because this surface now which is mixed a little bit with the artificial to keep the roots tighter,” the England manager said.
“I think people slide a little bit more and maybe it does provoke (more injuries).

“I have heard that (idea) put forward and it happened to me at Blackburn.
“We had the Desso pitches put down and we had all these Gilmore’s Groin injuries and we couldn’t understand it. We looked at everything we were doing technically, tactically, warm ups etc and we couldn’t come to terms with it.
“Maybe it’s the fact that the pitches in being so good they are forcing people to slide and stretch a bit more, that’s a possibility. “I really don’t know (for sure). It’s a difficult one.
“Let’s hope they can find the solution because it is a bit frustrating.
“It would have been nice in this month to have had a harder selection problem than I eventually ended up having and really bringing in some people who might not have got a look in otherwise.”
Brendan Rodgers regularly complained about the pitch at Anfield slowing down the Reds’ passing game.

Hodgson might have a point on the pitches but there's also far too many games played every year and that's a bigger factor for me.

I also think that the blade boot are causing a lot of injuries as they have too much grip which could explain the slew of knee injuries.

It was also blamed for the rise of the metatarsal breaks too

Do away with the League Cup and remove international friendlies during the season, keep it off season.

That might be true if, in our case, the injuries to Ings, Sakho and Gomez came later in the season but all came before we really got into the 2 games a week rhythm. There has to be more to it than that.

That's far too simplistic a view.

Looools

There has been 9 ACL injuries in total in the league so far I think. Would be interesting to know how that has developed over the last few years.

No you need to know about training, periodisation / intensity and everything else that goes along with it.

You fucking dope
Christ you fucking imbecile .. can't you read. Go back to post #10 - what does the last sentence say ? Does it imply that the pitches are the reason ? No, and neither did the opening post because I made no comment. Head up your fucking arse as usual.

It makes people more likely to have ACL injuries, but I don't think steroids are being used in soccer
How about performance enhancing drugs make injuries more common? Stretching the body beyond its limits?

I kinda want to report this post, but I was championing self moderation in recent discussions here.

Consider this your first warning.
