Tom Ince, sadly.
I have to say, he didn't look amazing when he was with us. Flashes here and there, good games now and again, but he wasn't the stand out talent that we see with Sterling or Suso. I honestly think that 6 million, or whatever they are saying is way too much for a player who still has a lot to do to make the grade.
Maybe thats why we're playing hardball with them. If they dont budge then look for another target.
Let's hope so, because it would be exactly the right thing to do, not something we've often been able to say about our recent transfer dealings.

That said, Ince has had an excellent season so far with Blackpool. Too many "starlet" youngsters fail to train on (to use horse-racing parlance) and at least we know Ince has. It's still no guarantee that he'll cut it in a team challenging for European places, but an upward curve in a young player is worth investing in.
Moreover, there were loads on here lauding Shelvey's performances on loan to Blackpool a while back as some sort of golden seal of approval that he should be here and starting - and Ince has been arguably better and is younger.

I really don't understand this attitude. It was a fantastic piece of business for them. They didn't need to sell, they presented a prohibitive price, and we paid it anyway, despite the fact that he was injured. They obviously saw us coming. They're not the criminals for asking for £35m - we are for paying it. It seems that people are angry with Newcastle for offering to fuck us up the arse, seemingly forgetting that we bent over and lubed ourselves up for it.
Of course, I would like to add that Newcastle is a cunt of a club, but that's certainly not based on this Andy Carroll debacle.

We need a proper hard-as-nails defensive midfielder but he doesn't think so it seems. Diame for 3.5m is a no-brainer.

Expecting £20m for him is laughable. We'll be lucky if anyone pays £10m for him and I don't care who they are. I would quite happily piggyback him to St James' park myself for that.
WHU offered us around 18, so I would say around that.
We'll get nowhere near 18M for Carroll. What has he achieved at Liverpool or WHU? Nothing of note.
What we need is for him to hit a purple patch so that Big Sam can pay us.
You're probably right. I also don't think AC wants to move to WHU, too far from Newcastle!
