Seems like we'll only have £17.25m. If that's all we got for him, we should have got Hleb too.

unless all the money is earmarked for one big signing (which I doubt)

I'd love us to get Defour with this money.
I'd like to see us wrap up the Konchesky signing too.
But if we do not sign another striker and we have to rely on what we had last season, we are fucked. So do we accept Poulson as Mash's replacement and put the money toward or striker or do we replace Mash appropriately? So many shitty questions.

Let's hope Roy knows what he is doing.

Im not saying that things are positive at the moment..

but just because we lost to Man City doesnt make this season a write off..

We have thrashed Utd in the last few seasons.. they still seem to be going okay..

I'd like Defour. Rather Salcido than Konchesky and we definitely need another good striker. We're woefully short of them.

if we bought defour and noone else, I could take that, he's good, the other people we are linked with are fucking shite.

We should've set a much earlier deadline and stuck to it. Now we're left in the exact position we didn't want to be in as there is no time to buy anyone... unless we already have deals in place, but I somehow doubt that.

Tom Hicks, May 2010:"We have no intention of selling any of our top players and we have a substantial transfer budget in place. There's so much misinformation about transfer spending. It's more than doubled under the ownership of George and myself from the previous three years and we will make a significant investment this summer. It's really about getting the right players."

Martin Broughton, July 2010:"I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have no need to sell any players to pay off the debt. If we were to sell anyone, then the money would be reinvested in the squad."

Yeh, our transfer dealings become increasingly inept every year.

I really wanted us to sign Ben Arfa
[/quote]

he sounds like a character that would appear in minder.

He's also got a bit of creativity about him.

Like I said the other day, at this point I'd take anyone who's got half a step over in them.

I think we will

It was an awful year last year, it's been an awful summer.

We have been slowly bleeding out over the last many months, and it would have required an incredibly smart transfer window to move ahead with no money.

Instead we held on to Torres so he can say that he loves the club before he leaves, have replaced another world class midfielder, with meh.

Everything is moving backwards, and that'll be the case until we have new owners. The only way this summer could have been a good one is if that had happened. If it drags on it'll get to the point where irreparable damage has been done to the club.

old man hodgson hasn't got what it takes to bring in a quality player. i reckon he goes home at night and can't believe his luck at managing the likes of reina, johnson, gerrard and torres.

he'll go buy some mid table nobodies that have already reached the peak of their careers and still amounted to fuck all rather than chase the likes of defour. poulson signing proves that.

Fuck me, you wanted Rafa gone and bugger the consequences of who we got and now you're not happy with what we've got. You really are a clueless whopper.

Seriously mods, he's made not even a score of posts in his new, but hardly hidden, guise and yet its plain to see there's no change. The only way is down from here.

#LFC secretary Ian Sylvester did say club likely to sign replacement for Mascherano.

Neil Jones, Echo

let's hope for defour, a CM of lucas and poulsen doesn't bear thinking about. well, techically it will be gerrard/poulsen or gerrard/lucas but even that is pretty scary.

I think we should spend the money on electroshock therapy for all the muppets that are saying we should sign players currently at Man City.

towards the end i think rafa wanted rafa gone and i don't think hodgson was on anyones list. i sincerely hope he does well but i think a club with our ambitions is probably a bit late in his career. who knows he may surprise us yet.

i think poulson was masch's replacement so if we get access to the 18 odd million from his sale and if insua does finally fuck off i'd like to see a solid fullback in the style of arbeloa, turan and a striker
