Someone like Lassana Diarra would fit in well, and I believe from what I've read on this site, he would get him for cheaper than Masch will go for. That should leave a few mill then to put towards another striker, which is badly needed.

Rafa never played kuyt or Babel up top really, he relied on n'gog too much. Occasionally might play kuyt but less than he should have

While Kuyt is an option to partner Torres, he can't deputize for Torres in his absence. Neither can any of the others. We desperately need a striker. And a left back. And a central midfielder. And a wide midfielder or two would be nice.

Agreed. It is of paramount importance that we revitalize our midfield. I feel Lucas and Poulsen should be squad players only. Not constants in the starting eleven. Could we afford Diarra and Defour? Would madrid Loan Diarra with an option to buy?
