Hey Macca and the chaps please can you tell me which of our yoots are:
A)Good enough to make it.
B)Closest to being ready.
C)Potential class.

I dont watch our youth games very often but ive just caught the highlights vs Molde and Silva, Ngoo and Sterling look the business. Any others? Any chance any of them will make the break next season?

WHAT ABOUT RAHEEM, ONCY, HMM, WHAT ABOUT HIM, EH ?

sigh...

Sterling is super talented. I'd like to see him get some games this season. Suso has the potential to be a Silva type, but isn't ready yet. He has an amazing range of skills, but I don't think he impacts on games regularly enough the way he should.

Would you say Suso needs to be accommodated by a team? Is that fair?

Objection, your honour

Andre Wisdom should turn out alright. He's physically ready and a decent player so isn't miles off. Could do with a loan move later in the season to speed up his progression maybe.

On his day he is at the centre of everything- but, particularly if he's played on one of the wings he often struggles to make an impact. Central playmaker role he seriously looks the part.

He's not the same player without Sterling.

Who only shines with Siva...

Haven't been overly impressed with Silva when I've seen glimpses of him.

He's ridiculously one-footed and although exciting at youth level looks to lack that extra bit of class and composure you need as you progress. Said the same of Amoo although Silva looks more naturally talented than him.

to me silva strikes me as one of the most talented but most raw/erratic youngsters we have. he could dribble past 3 defenders or just as easily run into the first defender. the talent is definately there.

I agree. He's sort of Babelesque actually. All the physical attributes, and occasionally a monster of a player, but quite often a headless chicken.

Robinson, Suso, Sterling and Adorjan.

They're showing maturity despite being 17 years old. They're on a different level.

Silva looks good but he lacks intelligence. I like the Babel comparison.

ha ha that's it, babel. all the talent in the world but doesn't have a footballing brain.

Morgan is my guy, doesn't look pretty doing it but puts the ball where it needs to be.
[/quote]

morgan reminds me of mellor, the ability to stick the ball in the back of the net and little else.

Is he also a fatty then?

After watching Sporting embarrass our u19 team I have to reiterate that I only see three players making it from that team.
Adorjan, Sterling and Suso (Robinson didn't feature).

BTW Why the hell wasn't he and Flanagan playing?

It's not like they're gonna play this weekend against Man C that's for sure, so can someone explain to me what's going on?

Poor performances from everyone bar the three I mentioned above. Our defence was basically shambles and I can't see it getting better unless Flanno and Robbo start taking part in the tournament.

I have to add that it makes me wonder how some of the players who played yesterday made it all the way to the U19s.

Not really an aswer to your question Modo but it looks to me like they are trying/hoping to speed up progression by players lads up. For instance the u18s looks to be full of 1st years (16-17), the u19s nextgen/reserves seem to be full of 2nd years (17-18) and a few over 18s. It might help the better players in the age groups to stand out and the others to be found out i guess. Thats probably what we are seeing now. It'll be interesting to see what sort of side gets fielded for FA youth cup games.

Jack Dunn reminds me alot of Jack Wilshere in his style and build and is one to keep a close eye on.At 17 he is a huge talent.
Suso looks like he is heading down the Pacheco road unfortunately though.

the team is becoming more and more relient on suso to dominate the midfield and he is just a kid, I think the pressure of continually being expected to be amazing is getting to him.

If, at the age of 18, he can't handle the pressure of the reserve team, there's little hope he'll step up any time soon.

Exactly at this age he should be dominating every game sticking out like a sore thumb demanding himself to be included in the first team squad. A bit like Raheem did last year. Unfortunately we seem to be fantastic at picking up players who excel at 15-17 years or age but fall over come 18.
