Seems a likeable enough fella and has done well as cover in certain situations but he suffers from comparison with Hyppia and Ive rarely seen a player as good as him in the air miss so many headed oppurtunities in front of goal. some of those misses were frighteningly bad.
That said hes 4th choice now and with Ayala and Kelly coming through is there any reason to keep him on the payroll

He's not good enough for Liverpool tbf.
He is a living, breathing symbol of how far our expectations levels have dropped in recent times.

Why? A fourth choice centre-back who's stepped in and generally done a very good job when required.
I don't understand how he represents a drop in expectation levels.

Agreed. Maybe Stu was referring to the fact that he's played more often than we'd normally expect a fourth choice to have to play.

Agree.... and for 1.5M GBP, he's been a very decent signing.
And he joined us knowing that he was signed as immediate cover, and once those players were fit that he'd be a bench player.
I've liked his attitude the most.

Fourth choice CB does him a disservice, IMO. I've been impressed by him from day one, and he provides healthy competition to our backline and it allows Carra and Agger to fill in at fullback when required. He's come to a tough new league quite late in his career and has performed admirably.
