The goodbye thread

I'm gonna say it, I'm gutted, I'm distraught even. Luis Suarez was a magical footballer, an absolute sensation, and after having one of the best seasons I've seen, he's leaving. No man is bigger than the club, true, but ability wise, the club is a lot smaller now he's gone.

He made the team last year, I know we won without him in the team, but when we won, and we won well, he was central, he was the glue that tied a very exciting attack and turned it into a lethal machine, he was our playmaker and best goal scorer. Even when he wasn't scoring, his ability, determination, leadership cannot be understated, whether he was making runs and drawing the defenders off, or peeling into the spaces in between, unsettling the opponents, he had a massive effect, his sheer presence made it so much easier for the rest of our attack to play, and it's also clear that he's had a huge influence on some of the youngsters, especially Raheem.

He was our team, I don't mean to say this to belittle our other players, but he made us tick, he made some very good players into a fantastic unit, and he played in a way that no one we've signed or have could even beginning to replicate. We have a very good team without him here, but with him here, we had a sensational team. Fuck knows how Brendan will change the team to work without him, that's his biggest challenge, I can't say I'm confident right now though.

There is no way I'm happy about this transfer, it's 100% shit, I don't want £75million quid, I want the best striker on the planet back in my team. Obviously I understand it was beyond our control, but I'm not going to be happy about it. To those who are saying good riddance because of his baggage, sorry I don't buy that. I don't watch premier league football because it's full of players with high moral standards, I watch it because it's the best football on the planet, if I wanted that I'd go and watch my local salvation army fund raiser.

Now that he doesn't have the ace up his sleeve, lets see if Brendan really is the manager we think he is.
Top top post mate!

Ah well. It was great while it lasted. I was lucky enough to see him destroy Norwich a couple of times which was amazing. What a player. All the best to him. Maybe he'll come back one day. You never know. 🙂

The other thread is a bit tasteless, and while these goodbye letters are clichéd and adhere to the usual structure, I like what he said and actually believe him in the most part.

I'm absolutely gutted by this. Fuck all the talk about baggage, he is just absolutely phenomenal. I think some people are underestimating just how much we'll miss him. He was the team at times last season. This season with CL and no Suarez will be a huge test of Rodgers' credentials.

Yep I was lucky enough to see his hat trick and curling header from outside the box against West Brom.

like i said this is a massive window now . Despite where we finished last season i still think the team has lots of areas that need work . We've now got to get over losing the title and one of the world's best players . We need to be careful , a bad start and it could turn out to be a very long season . But get it right and we could come out of this very well .

yeah it's cos his family live there. that's why he was trying to move to arsenal last year.

That's why I say in the most part. He wants to be at a bigger club in terms of regularly challenging for leagues and the champions league. He might not get that here, he thought he stood a better chance of that at Arsenal, he will get that at Barcelona.

The family thing plays a part too, obviously, but you're right, it wasn't the whole decision. Then we're talking about the culture and the language etc. I don't blame him for going from his point of view. I'm not going to be bitter and wish ill upon him. I don't want to belittle the club but we were lucky and it was a privilege to have him here (racism and biting aside).

Header from outside the box??? But surely Van Persie's header against Spain was the greatest & longest ever?

Next you'll be telling me that Peter Crouch can score with a bicycle kick like Rooney

The world has gone mad

Exactly how I feel about.

Everyone knows Rooney patented the bicycle kick.

And Pirlo and Del Piero learnt how to take freekicks by watching Cristiano Ronaldo.

Don't bother getting hysterical lads. We've had time to process this. We knew he was going and now we have official confirmation. Not nice to hear but we did know it was around the corner. He has left the country so we don't have to look at him every weekend.

Look forward to the CL and the dawning of a new hero, whoever they may be.

I was there when he scored 4 past Norwich. It was my son's first match at Anfield. What an experience! Brilliant memories!

And I don't think he'll be back. Well unless he gets in a massive conflict with Messi...

I'm honestly not as arsed as I should be

Perhaps it's because it's been on the cards for 3 years, perhaps it's the decent fee we got, or maybe it's because I actually have faith in Rodgers. Or maybe it's because he's a nutter who's missed 30+ games for us in 3 seasons. Who knows.

I'm not too bothered.

I'm sorry to see him go too but distraught ? Nah. Genius footballer but the fact of the matter remains he wanted out of Liverpool. Although you can never doubt his application on the bitch and his unbridled talent the fact remains he doe'nt give a fuck in general about the club or it's fans just what's best for Luis Suarez. Which is fine, he's entitled to that as are we all but what it ultimately means is we had no control over his departure in reality and there's no point get all arsed about shit you cannot influence or control. So yeh, massive loss of a genuis talent (but also a liability) but I'm not going to collapse into tears over it. Liverpool will carry on. We've got a boss young manager who plays brilliant footy with or without Suarez and we'll hopefully invest the cash we made, a near £50m or 200%+ profit (good business), in the right players. It doesn't have to be the most expensive biggest name players either but the right players.

There's nothing to say we haven't see the best of Suarez either so let's take true stock in 12 months time. I'll miss the little bitey genius cunt but he's gone now and as far as I'm concerned I hope he trips over his teeth and knocks himself out. You'll not be seeing fuck all of him till at least the end of November I reckon anyway. See ya Luis, you'll realise what you've left soon enough. Or maybe not being a bit of a thick cunt.

The other thread is a bit tasteless, and while these goodbye letters are clichéd and adhere to the usual structure, I like what he said and actually believe him in the most part.

Sorry Hal but I think that we are deluded if we think he gives a fuck about us - he showed that last year

On a side note, Torres leaving was a lot harder to stomach. He left all of a sudden (to us) and went to a direct rival. I was stunned.
Yeah but the game we played after he went to that plastic shower of cunts was a beaut! Agger giving him a taste of his elbow was pretty sweet as well. 😉

I can't think of many players I have seen who want to win just as much as he does. Unfortunately it is this win at all costs attitude that has also made him a loose cannon.

I think a lot of us knew that we relied very heavily on him at times, and selling him for such a large fee is a great chance to spread the talent across the team with some quality signings that can set us up for years to come. We might struggle a bit to start with but it can be an enabler for much bigger and better things.

So who will take the #7 shirt?

I think Sterling should get it - imagine what a boost and vote of confidence that will be in him. It'll bring extra pressure of course, but the best thrive on that and if he's who we think he'll go on to become, it'll help make him rather than break him. Sturridge should get the no. 9 off Aspas.

One of the things I'll miss about him is he always seemed like a kind of safety net. I mean when we played the big teams (and some of the bogey teams like Stoke etc) I always thought we would win or at least get a result because you know.... We had Suarez. He was streets above anyone else in the league and it showed on many many occasions.

I have a feeling his 3 years with us has done wonders for players like Sterling and Flanno. He was a proper footballer and would have been a great captain (and was on occasion). I'll definitely remember him fondly - So long as he doesn't do anything daft like knock us out of the CL!

sad to see him go. think he did his best while playing for us but it was not to be. we move on as a club.

I'm quite pleased about this given the money we got and his age.

The last thing we should do is go out and blow the money in one transfer window, unless it is on James. I'd rather keep the money and just get one striker, then use the shortfall in talent to give more opportunities to younger players.

Giving more game time to Sterling, Ibe, Suso, and Markovic will see us having a much much better season than if we bring in a bunch of over-priced cunts like Tottenham did. One really good replacement, then trust our own players to do the rest.
