Probably because most rational people see how incredibly fuckin short sighted it was to replace a proven manager with a journeyman of no notable substance?

Hodgson is a decent, honourable man, but can anyone seriously argue a case for his appointment on footballing grounds?
Welcome to the site. Can you make an argument, on footballing grounds, for the club to have retained Rafa?
Thanks 🙂

On last season alone the answer is defo no, but a good footballing case could have been made for Pellegrini before Hodgson i think.

“My expectations were not that high anyway. It would have been disappointing to lose but I’m not that disappointed to draw.â€

The above quote it todays Daily post sums it up for me..

He went for a draw..

You could argue, this Gafa does not have the winning mentality a club like Liverpool need

I'm convinced if Rafa were still here Stevie wouldnt be, & possibly Torres too. I have no proof of this, but it is my strongly held opinion based on the players attitudes last season.
Not sure about Torres but defo SG and JC. This is what I was getting at by saying nobody at the club (players/manager etc) can be proud of their actions last season.
Carra was going nowhere, though he barely hid his opinion of Rafa. Hence why Rawkites wanna kill his first born.

I wonder what his expectations are of next weeks match. Sounds like we may as well not bother turning up.

His away record in the premiership is played 75, won 12, drawn 27, lost 36. Let us hope the win column increases next week. We should give him at least a season before evaluating him but his past record does not inspire confidence.

His inability to make changes, ta have a "plan B" so to say, is frustrating.
I saw it against Man C and now against Birmingham.
We play Man U away next. Expect the same, we are bound to lose.

i judged him before we appointed him, just like 90% plus of every other liverpool fan i know - he's nowhere near good enough to be managing a team with expectations like ours.

he needs to be sacked and sacked as soon as possible. if by some chance we get rid of the yanks and have new owners by xmas then the only chance we have of finishing in the top 4 is if we sack him then.

give grandpa all the time you want, he's out of his depth, there is no way he'll be anywhere near 4th come xmas.

he disgusted me today with his confused looks. he's supposed to be in charge yet he looked like not only did he have no idea what was going on he had no idea of how to change anything.

By all accounts I'm a super negative knee jerk kind of fella who sees the worst all the time but tbh i didn't watch anything today which would make me go for the managers throat ... Sure we have definitely played better games even recently but ffs ... It's what his 4th game in the league ... Truth is apart from 2 or 3'players Birmingham are not that much worse than us and our star players were not firing on all cylinders today. What is more, Birmingham are a bogey team for us and have been for a while, even before we sold two world class centre mids ... If people are having a go at Roy they should behave a bit IMO ... It's gutting to see us so toothless it is true but fuck it ... It's not a bad point away from home.

As for playing the "Liverpool way" ... Liverpool way ..... Liverpool used to have world class all over the pitch and now we don't ... That ain't Roys fault is it... Marathon not a sprint is right BTW

What expectations are they, exactly?

A club with no Champions League, a disillusioned captain and star striker, no money, a shite squad with Nabil El Fucking Zhar in it for any manager to have to come in and sort out is usually a prospect most will avoid, knowing they could get better elsewhere pretty easily.

We picked a manager to suit our needs - introduce some stability and keep the major figureheads here; to buy English to compensate for the homegrown stuff, and most importantly, a man not to complain when shite comes his way, cos he's in the best job of his life/

We had zero expectations, and we acquired a manager to fit in with this. He's here, and he isn't fucking off anytime soon, so you might as well get behind him.

yea i'm sure we kept reina, gerrard and torres here because we had zero expectations.

its only a matter of time before we hear the chants of 'you don't know what you're doing'.

he'll be gone by xmas when we're 10 points off 4th nevermind 1st.

the only thing i'm backing grandpa on is at the bookies. the shortest serving liverpool manager ever - even then i bet the odds won't be good.

Might I add all of this I did not expect on this site tbh... More or less rabidly anti Rafa despite a number of blatant mitigating factors in his favor and here we have, after all of 4 games, people calling for the new managers head. As a confirmed RCDNWer I find some of the responses genuinely perverse... This is what you all wanted wasn't it?? Give the guy a fucking break for gods sake!! He is probably all we could get seeing the shit we are in and he has been around long enough to know the fucking score and if we get behind him and the team u never know he might just turn out to be a good calm footballing man that the club clearly needs right now.

Fucks sake calm down some of you. Or go and support Newcastle ffs.

yea. when i get some decent odds i know i'll win enough to pay for my season tickets for the next few years. by which time we'll have a manager who see's managing liverpool as a step towards fulfilling his life ambitions rather than the climax of his career.

Like who?

Unless we go for a championship manager, whose only proven accolades lie echelons below, i can't see someone better than Roy for the job.

Fair point oncey and onions is right too ... It is true we could do with a good confidence boosting performance and a victory against a bogey team like Birmingham would have been lovely but ... Spitting the dummy is either way too late or way too early and whatever way you look at it uncalled for and unhelpful.

Let's do them Manc cunts.

Before the season we all looked at our opening five fixtures and said it was a tough way to start the season. And it's proving to be the case.

At that point we still had Mascherano and didn't know Joe Cole would end up missing three of the games. Now Joe isn't all that important in his own right, but his suspension coupled with Meireles international obligations ensured we would end up having to play Lucas and Poulsen today because Gerrard was inevitably going to be pushed forward. And Lucas and Poulsen were a big part of the problem today, once Gerrard moved back and Meireles came on we looked a different side.

It's not good now, but I can certainly see how it's going to get better. We'll be fine.

the obvious is gerrard next to meireles with cole behind torres. i doubt roy will oblige us rosco. he'll find a way off playing pooson

Christ there's some knee jerk bollocks in this thread.

B'ham have been undefeated at home for 17 games, us getting a point there isn't too bad.

Sure, we weren't attackminded & we showed a lack of adventure, but with that personnel at hand it's not that big a surprise really.

kenny as a stopgap would have been better
Yeah, a manager whose last exploits saw him fucked off from Celtic and whose revered stature here would see him make a huge risk by possibly tarnishing it versus the LMA manager of the year who took Fulham from relegation candidates to European finalists.

lma manager of the year means fuck all.

kenny's achieved more in one season than roy will have done in a lifetime. at least he has a reputation to put up for tarnishing.

Why would he risk it, rusty after last winning something 15 years ago? He wouldn't, which is why Roy's here.

Biggest load of bollocks I had a misfortune to read. Knee jerk to the extreme and jumping to conclusions far far too early in the season.

It's not like he wasn't willing to risk it himself, so why're we even discussing that? Kenny made it quite clear that he wanted the job.

The risk was more on our part; he wanted the job because he loves us and wanted tp help.

Ask yourself what would have happened had Kenny been in charge and we've just had the same results.

This place would have gone into meltdown; rage would have gone into a tirade about how stupid we were to appoint a manager who hadnt had managerial experience for over a decade.

The gaffer himself said judge him after 10 games. With his current approach nothing is going to change.

We're already adrift and it seems devoid of confidence and creativity.

Mid season? Forget that. Take off your blinkers Aquaman!

It's gonna take a while. We've had injuries, suspensions and we haven't been able to play his preferred lineup yet. I doubt we'll see a partnership of Meireles and Gerrard, but we'll see Meireles, Gerrard and Cole vying for a couple of places while Poulsen plays the holding role. Joe Cole and the Portuguese lad could make a big difference to the way we shape up. Roy didn't really have alot else on in midfield yesterday, but he does need to start being bolder with his subs, Babel or Pacheco could have made a difference.

Arsenal D
City L
West Brom W
Brum D

If it wasn't for a gaff in the Arsenal game that would have been 8 from 12 in what (as said) was considered a really tough start. We haven't won at St Mary's for 7 years and they haven't been beaten there for a year, so it was never an easy fixture.
