I forgot about the Auxerre game.
You were there for that TOO?

Would have loved to have been there.

I remember being on holiday and me waiting for the paper at a tiny news-vendor by the beach for the report fully expecting us to have been eliminated. And the score was in a tiny column about 4 inches long and my head blew.

I can't remember who we lost to in the next round, and I can't even remember who won the Cup that year, but I remember that game.

Nice one Johnno

I am torn between the 1977 European Cup QF v St Etienne, or the Chelsea 2005 CL.

Although I probably took the greatest pleasure from beating Chelsea, the St Etienne game takes it , it was very dramatic, and being in the middle of the Kop that night one of the more physically demanding, and it was the springboard to go on to number 1

Chelsea or Olympiakos 2005. The atmosphere against Chelsea was unbelievable.

Even against Arsenal in 2009 was one of the biggest roller-coaster games I've even stood through.

*jealous of Spion and Vlad*

Hmm let me balance that a little bit then.

Chesterfield 4-4
Port Vale 2-2
Arsenal 3-6, 0-3
Wimbledon 0-1 1988 Final
Coventry 1-5
Villa 0-3 beginning of last season
Genoa and Spartak Moscow at home
Auxerre away
Man Utd 96 Fa Cup Final

To name but a few

That Villa game was 1-3
Ha! Was it? It was one of the worst home performances I'd seen in ages bar the first 5 minutes. I must have blocked the goal we scored from the memory banks.

Out of curiousity, did anyone here go to the away leg of the St. Etienne tie?
Not a chance. I was 7 years old!

I've always taken the rough with the smooth.

Yeah.

Hopefully things get a lot smoother fpr us now

I've just realised that I was a lot older when we lost to them, probably 18 or so
