Regardless of whether the player was offside or not, he made that stop in a way I’ve never rarely, if ever, seen before. You 100% felt that was going to be a goal or a penalty. But it ended with a magnificent piece of athleticism from Becker. If anyone had any doubts about his quality, that save should serve as notice that he’s an elite keeper.

It's not just that he gets to it, but that incredible flick out into safety. It has been noted how often the ball sticks to him, but when that's impossible, he consistently gets the ball safe from his interventions. He's incredible.

DIrty Sanchez does this no justice by describing is as a one-on-one .. its a fucking two-on-one and Alisson is still the favourite
Yes - I was misremembering it. It’s even more impressive when watching it back again.
The bit about releasing a little bit of pee stands true though.

This Is the distribution I was talking about. Incredible from defence to attack in a second.

Reina was our best PL era keeper - until Becker. Reina won the golden gloves a few years running I seem to remember. His last year was sloppy and for that we stupidly traded him for Mignolet.

Yeah, he was miles better than Mignolet, but he deffo had a weird slump at the end of his time here, when he seemed to stop making saves, which may have coloured some opinions a bit unfairly.

Pepe was great, but he never was in the “best in the world” conversation. Spain’s #2 behind Casillas, never mentioned in the same breath as Bufffon, Neuer or Cech - at the time looking with red-tinted glasses I thought it was a bit unfair, but objectively he was always a rung below the very best.

Alisson for the 2nd season running has been arguably the world’s best and at the very least in the top 3 of active keepers alongside Oblak and Ter Stegen.

Alisson looks to be a better keeper for sure, I guess I brought Reina up because some people seem to think Ali invented quick accurate distribution.

Oblak is an absolute monster, and we're going to have to be clinical to get past him, but he hasn't got the distribution skills that mark Alisson out. In fairness to Reina, his distribution was a phenomenal asset too.

I seem to remember that the beach ball incident against Sunderland fucked with him for a long time for some reason. But as others have mentioned, he was very good but never in the best-in-the-world conversation. Mignolet on the other hand was a fucking disaster right from the start.

It was also the time when Valdez said he will not renew his contract at the end of the season. Then Reina came out with a statement in the press about how it would be difficult to turn down Barcelona followed by his dad stating it was his dream to see his son at Barcelona. In the end Valdez ended up signing a contract extension.

The way he openly courted Barcelona combined with his slump did harm his reputation here a bit.
