Easily the best Liverpool keeper I've seen in my lifetime. Shits all over the hugely overrated Pepe Reina.

kaka at 40th min "Firmino and ..... the guy from barcelona".

i thought it was coutinho, it's funny that kaka forgets coutinho name. then he said "suarez. for me firmino and suarez are the best strikers in the world right now". that's worse. he doesn't even rate coutinho.

ha. ha. ha.

I was gonna say poor the Ming.

Apparently he’s still bitter about the whole experience esp. his departure etc. Someone needs to show these stats to him and hopefully knock some sense into the lad.

And the 'average keeper' is similarly outperforming Karius and Ming. Praise the lord that we finally got a top quality player between the sticks.

Obviously the signing of *two* transformative players in Alisson and Virgil isn't common, and has certainly been a key factor in turning us into the best club side in world football.

But I wonder just how much quicker the acceleration would have been - and perhaps trophy haul - if we hadn't spent so many years with Mignolet and Karius as our keeper options.

It was so fuckimg obvious from very early on that neither was good enough

Yes, but had we invested in a decent keeper earlier, we would not have the incentive to go out and spend 60M on Alisson. Klopp was happy to stick with Weidenfeller at Dortmund, who was a big character and all that, but never the best GK in Germany, let alone the world. Having a generational performer in this position gives us an extra cushion against any opponent or tactic - this is part of the reason why we can win when playing poorly again and again and again.

I guess my point is that it’s all for the better.

I read that he did. Gave me the impression that he felt he was being mistreated. I could be wrong.

"If you were to ask me to write a list of the most standout professionals I’ve worked with in the game – in a career of well over 30 years – Simon Mignolet would be competing for the number one spot,”

-Klopp

Reina was a beast for at least his first 2 years with us, but this chap is another level. He's just cool in every scenario (even after a very infrequent wobble, because nobody's perfect) and makes the hard stuff look easy. He reminds me of those annoying pop-ups on the early net where no matter where you clicked on your screen it'd be there.

Most definitely the best in the world.

Ray Clemence was our last super keeper, and we now have this fella that made Clemence's jaw drop. He and Van Dijk, crazy defence right there.
