I think there are 3 possibilities here:

1. Firmino did say something racist (after the initial insult).
2. Holgate made a false accusation for cynical reasons.
3. Holgate mis-heard what was said.

Against #1. Nobody else reacted, and there were plenty nearby. Also - video evidence shows Firmino saying something else ... though claims are that Holgate's reaction was to a follow-up where Firmino's mouth was obscured.
At the moment it's only from Holgate. He deleted his twitter? May have been advised to do so ahead of possible fall-out?
