Mascherano aside im not one bit disappointed the rest are gone. Would have been nice if Aqua proved people wrong, but he didnt so fuck it! Mascher wanted to go so we were resigned to losing him anyway.

Only Mascher on that list leaves me with regret. Although he was never going to stay and was a cunt for acting like he did etc etc.

I'm suprised that we allowed Da La Valle to leave. The rest I don't have a problem with. Mascherano didn't want to be here so I NO have regrets with him leaving. Aquilani turned out to be a luxury that we couldn't afford despite glimses of his class. I liked the balance that Riera offered the team but he was a tit.

I would like to know how much we saved with all the players leaving.

Roy must have seen him quite a bit as he was manager for Finland a couple of years back?

Well prospective superstars will never be worth a mediocre leftback anyway..... 8)

Obviously losing Mascherano was annoying but beyond that my opinion ranges from not too bothered (Yossi, Riera, Cavalieri) to very pleased to get rid (Aquilani, Insua)

Dalle Valle leaving came as a surprise to me as well although admittedly I never thought he looked that good for the Reserves.

This is how I reckon our strikers are ranked today:

Fernando Torres (a mile ahead)
David N'Gog
Ryan Babel
Dirk Kuyt
Nathan Eccleston?
Nikola Saric?

Unless one of the youngsters are suddenly becoming a crazy hot goalmachine then once again it's all about Torres.

I reckon Babel is a better finisher than N'gog, n'gog just has the work rate. I'd rather try babel for a couple of games over n'gog

I'm not saying I disagree actually bit I do think NGog has started this Season quite well.

PS Completely forgot about Jovanovic I'm just not sure he's a striker at all.

that finish from babel in europe was pretty darn clinical

oh don't get me wrong khl i think n'gog has started in fine form, but i think it's just that, current form. I wonder if he can hit a barn door in 2 months time when we might need him. Whenever babel has played he tends not to be overly wasteful with his chances, more often than not hitting the target.

Kuyt: (Mostly from right wing) is a 1 in 3.5 - 1 in 4

LFC league games/goals: 144 / 36
Total LFC games/goals: 204 / 52

Babel: (mostly from left wing) is well not very good 1 in 8 - 1 in 5

LFC league games/goals: 84 / 11
Total LFC games/goals: 133 / 21

N'Gog (mostly as out and out Striker) is 1 in 4.2 - 1 in 4.2

LFC league games/goals: 40 / 8
Total LFC games/goals: 62 / 15

Of course this is all statistics 🙂

Good old statistics. Remove context from fact and you're left with statistics

Carlton Cole would probably make bottom of that list 🙂

There should be enough in all that lot to be a back-up especially when you add in goals from Gerrard, Cole, Jovanovic etc.

It's all about Torres' fitness and whether the new medical team can get him out there for 30+ games.

Kuyt may have superior stastistics but often plays a full 90 whereas Babel and N'Gog rarely have in their LFC careers..

In regards to the original post I'm glad we've got rid of most of the deadwood..

to be fair to babel how many of those games listed has he started? for instance against man city he was given 15 mins.

Yeah, the only rotting log still floating around Melwood stinking the place up is Lucarse, and hopefully recent events will have let him know exactly where he stands (floats) these days.

I still don't like Eggnog. And the jury is very much out on Poulsen.

Other than that, pretty pleased with the exodus, but as I said, the player I mentioned earlier still HAS to go.

I'd rather have kept Riera and Aquilani.

£4M that bought in this season. From a footballing perspective it really can't be justified.

Aquilani perhaps but only because we'll never really know what we're missing out on.

Riera I'm not arsed about one bit.

Riera I didn't mind but not that fussed that he has gone really

Aquilani I was glad to see the back of.

I wasn't glad to see the back of him for no money.

And Riera hasn't been replaced by a better player, IMO.

He needed another go this Season really, to be fair.

Alberto Aquilani- Welcome to Liverpool FC Compilation

Getting a decent fee would have been better of course but only an idiot would pay money for Aquilani. If he can get even slightly fit and play some games in a league that suits him he might fetch some kind of fee next year.

In reality all he was going to be doing here is be injured, maybe come back for a few games where he would probably have struggled with the much more physical Premier league and then got injured again.
