Hmmmm. Is this okay? Could a white guy that took 'a hard stance on addressing racism' win a Black List award?

Raheem Sterling leads the Football Black List, the awards celebrating the game's most influential black people... with Sportsmail's Adrian Kajumba also recognised alongside Sadio Mane

Raheem Sterling has been rewarded for his work in cutting down racism in football after being named on the Football Black List for 2019.
The awards which were started in 2008 are an initiative celebrating the most influential black people in the British game.
Sterling makes the list for his stance on addressing racism and how he used his profile and platform to raise awareness of how black people can be misrepresented in the media.

Leon Mann, co-founder of the list, said: 'Raheem has made such a huge impact in the last year on and off the pitch. His vital words and actions in confronting issues of racism and how the black community is treated cannot be down played.'
The Manchester City star features in a category, named after the late former England international Cyrille Regis, which recognises the positive contributions of footballers.
Other Premier League stars to feature in the category are Liverpool's Sadio Mane for his charity work in Senegal and Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose, for raising awareness of mental health issues in sport.

For raising awareness of mental health, Tottenham's Danny Rose is also recognised
From the women's game, Juventus's Eni Aluko and Chelsea's Anita Asante also feature to complete the five players on the list.
Sportsmail's Adrian Kajumba is also recognised as one of five among the media category, with other categories including administration, coaching and management, commercial, community and practitioners.
A panel of experts from the community and football industry looked at a long list of nominations before a voting process decided who made the final list.
The panel included representation from the Premier League, The Football Association, Professional Footballers' Association, League Managers Association, English Football League and Kick It Out.

Rewarding people of colour because of disenfranchisement, I can understand, but this?
And who decides who's black enough? Is Barkley considered to be black?

Is this really true? What an absurd list. Can you imagine a 'White List'?

Andre Gray notes the pointlessness of Kick it Out :
“The only way at this moment is to deal with discrimination as a club, like Watford are doing, and to deal with your own community,” said the Hornets striker.

“It’s how we deal with our fans, how we engage with them and the younger people around in the community, so it doesn’t happen where we are. If every club starts to take that approach, it’s a building block.”

“I don’t understand what person is going to come to the ground, see a little badge or the boys warming up in a t-shirt and think ‘you know what, I’m not racist anymore, I like these people’,” said Gray.

“You’re not going to change their opinion. It’s all good putting it out there, but what is actually being done? Because it always gets brushed under the carpet, something always comes up which comes above it.

“It’s about keeping it out of the stadium because of kids that are sat in front, sat behind and kids that are watching that on TV, they see what’s been going on and that’s the problem.”

The Taliban ?

I suppose I do share their views on women.

No! 🙂 The Jew they released because he argued so much! 🙂

[article]Meet Zabulon Simentov, 66, who is believed to be the last remaining Jew in Afghanistan. Emran Feroz recently profiled Simentov for Foreign Policy and uncovered some incredible stories about the feisty Afghan — including that the Taliban once imprisoned him for arguing with a fellow Jew, then kicked him out because the constant bickering became too annoying.[/article]
