Team VS Chelsea

Team picks it's self right now I think. Your selection above but Lallana in for Ibe.

Ibe and Teix could be a breath of fresh out there but I can't see them starting Saturday,

Mignolet

Clyne
Skrtel
Sakho
Moreno

Lucas
Can
Coutinho

Firmino
Benteke
Ibe

Thoughts guys?
My thoughts are - The whole first eleven is up in the air. Gone are the days when the team picked itself. I think I'd go with your team however. I'd very tempted to swap Migs for Bog though. It won't happen but you never know.

Very excited about this one. This is exactly the sort of occasion I hope the new manager can give us the edge in, be it with tactics and team setup or the confidence he brings.

I have seen Milner stand out in big games in the past, I doubt he will miss out. Back 4 and keeper are obvious, I think the 3 in front are obvious too: Milner Lucas Can

Benteke is a definite if he's fit. If Klopp picks on form Ibe and Firmino should push out Lallana and Coutinho but I think Phillipe will remain and Ibe will replace Lallana.

I wouldn't mind seeing Coutinho deeper like the first team posted though.

We should have a fitter team than Chelsea for this. They were playing their first team when they got snotted by a 10 man Stoke.

Big 90mins for Firmino if he makes the team
He wouldn't play 90 mins. But doubt that he'll start with those players.
Lallana will start due to him being rested in the last game. I'm thinking same team as the Southampton game minus Origi + Benteke

I wouldn't be too disappointed with that, Ibe and Firmino are great options.

I'm not sure you can play Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana in the same team unless theres at least two footballs on the pitch.

The back four is obvious.

Can Milner

Coutinho Firmino Ibe

Benteke

Hopefully Benteke makes it back

Ming
Clyne
Skittles
Sakho
Moreno
Lucas
Can
Milner
Coutinho
Firmino
Benteke

This. You need an experienced and tactically flexible player like Milner to counteract whatever tactical tricks Mourinho will think of, plus he is one of our best crossers, which is important with Benteke. As for Firmino, I don't want to imagine a team without him now, going back to the dysfunctional Coutinho-Lallana attacking duo would feel like such a step backwards compared to what we saw yesterday. Even if he can only last 60 minutes, he should start.

Some strange selections here or just wishful thinking.

Away to the champions when we haven't looked like scoring and played on Weds.

We will set up quiet defensively.

----------------------------Ming--------------------------

Clyne------Skrtel---------------Sakho---------Moreno

--------------------Lucas--------Can---------------------

Milner-----------------Coutinho----------------Lallana

------------------------Bentekkers------------------------

If Benteke is injured Origi will start.

Frimino will be on the bench with Ibe, Lovren, Bogdan

That's the team but not the line-up, it will be the 4-3-2-1 again.

Klopp may believe he has better options off the bench now so Firmino, Teixeira and Ibe could play influential parts if we go for a full-on gegenpressing start.

I think the team will have to be very defensive - I think Chelsea will play the game of their lives to save their manager from getting the sack. I would have in midfield Milner, Cann, and Lucas, and up front go with Coutinho, and Firminho, they can switch places with each other if the need be - at least for the first 45 minutes. Playing Origi gives us nothing up front - he is just not a goal threat. However, the team will lack pace.

So Mourinho will be able to manage from the touchline this weekend.

Then if he's found guilty next week they won't invoke his suspended one match ban? How the fuck does that work?!

Ooops, I omitted Milner from my initial post. He plays obviously, probably Instead of Lallana/Ibe.

I just love Klopp's touch line antics. It's strange but it gets me all hyped up.

BT Sport’s German football expert Rafa Honigstein :

How important do you see Saturday’s game with Chelsea in terms of the two clubs’ hopes of securing Champions League qualification this season?
This isn’t a game that will decide anything. I actually don’t think it’s as important for Liverpool as it is for Chelsea and Mourinho.

Of course if Liverpool got a draw or a win people would look at it as a real sign of Liverpool’s fortunes changing under Klopp.

But for me the real proof of that will come when we see whether they can grind out results at places like Sunderland or when teams come to Anfield and sit deep. We’ll know a lot more about this team come January or February.

You can’t read too much into whatever happens against Chelsea. It’s a long season. Klopp is at the very beginning of his tenure.

But it’s an interesting game with it being Mourinho v Klopp. It might be Mourinho’s last chance to turn their season around.

Is this a good time for Klopp’s side to face Chelsea?
Liverpool should be more relaxed about it. They should relish the opportunity. Any time to play Chelsea has been a good time this season as they are unrecognisable from the team which won the title last season. Chelsea’s fragility makes them a much less daunting opponent.

But in some ways the fact that Jose’s head is on the chopping block makes it more difficult for Liverpool. I think the fans will rally around the manager at Stamford Bridge and make it more awkward.

How do you think Klopp will approach it tactically?
I think Liverpool will play a bit deeper and press a bit later. Then they’ll try to hit them on the break. Chelsea are the home side and they have to go for it. Chelsea will need to be proactive to get their fans on board.

It’s an opportunity for Liverpool to be a bit more reactive, to frustrate Chelsea and then try to snatch a goal or two on the break.

It'll be 4-3-2-1

Ming & the back 4 are guaranteed, the mid 3 are guaranteed (Milner, Can & Lucas) and the 1 will be Bentekers. Just leaves the two up for discusion.

I'd like to go with Firmino and Ibe but I suspect it will be Lallana and Coutinho

Looks like benteke will be back so we can fuck off origi.

................bogdan
Clyne..skrtel...sakho..moreno
...........milner..lucas
Lallana....Firmino......coutinho
................benteke

I'd play that

I don't think either Lallana or Coutinho play well on the sides (it's not really wing play cos it's still narrow), I know they swap but as we're deep that swapping isn't very dynamic currently.

I'd play Lallana cos he's in the better form of the two, but have Ibe instead of Countinho.

However I imagine he'll be benteke if he's fit.

I like that team but I don't for one moment believe Klopp will play it. Surely 3 solid midfielders (so Lucas, Milner and Can) then a 2 and a 1 (Benteke) upfront.

I'd play this:

Mignolet

Clyne ---Skrtel----Sakho----Moreno

----------Can-----Milner---------

Lallana------Firmino--------Coutinho

--------------Benteke--------------
