N'gog has to play, let him have a go at Lyon it'll be the dream of a lifetime for him. And he has proved he scores goals. 4-1-3-2 it is for me.

I'd play N'gog and Voronin upfront

Benayoun Gerrard and Kuyt in midfield 3

Masch the DM.

Backline of Insua, Agger, Carra, and Johnson

Reina in goal. I'd be confident of a win if we lined up like this

I thought he was very poor, I know he wasn't alone in that regard, but he just looks so disinterested.
I think he'll go for Ngog but the rest of your team looks good.

Yeah i'd give him a go tomorrow personally, although i'd not be disappointed to see N'gog start either TBH.

I think it's almost a dead cert that Lucas starts, but i'd like to see how Mascher and SG get on together in the centre.

i have no idea why anyone would start kuyt upfront instead of ngog. kuyt looks completely useless up top every single time he's played there. he doesn't have any of the attributes needed to play that role. when kuyt starts up front we literally don't have a front man; just a big wad of midfielders prancing round waiting for glojo to make a run.

N'Gog is a definite starter up front on his own. Well, unless he gets injured in the meantime.

I don't think it should be a case of one or the other. Kuyt is fine up front if he has a partner. He's intelligent and knows where his team mates are so the link role suits him well. At Feyenoord he always had a pacey partner to feed or draw defenders and it worked well. Ngog looks equally lost without a partner and doesn't really have the experience to be leading the line. Pairing them together seems like a fairly sensible idea to me.

Rafa being Rafa, I wouldn't be surprised if he played Gerrard in behind the striker ans went with a Lucas Mascherano CM again.
If Babel is going to become anyway decent he will need to have some faith shown in him, even after bad games like Saturday.
All part of the learning curve, and at least that way, one way or the other, we will get a final on answer on Babel ability wise.

In the process of watching the game and I have decided on this so far:

GJ             Carra           Agger           Aurelio

               Masch            Gerrard

Babel                Benayoun               Riera

                        N'gog

and you know how when Rafa wants to switch things up he kind of mixes the three AMs up to try and create a matchup problem,
with this personnel I say when we try and mix things up we push either Babel or Benayoun up as a striker, and go 4-narrow2-wide2-2.  Either way I just wanna see Benayoun creating for a pacey striker who can finish.

I'm tempted to play Skrtel.

Spearing had two good shots, one really impressive.

Yeah i agree with you Stu.

I know its been said 100's of times, but this game could be huge for Babel. If he plays and fails to contribute, then i seriously doubt that Rafa will trust him to start again (unless forced into it).

Even if we do play Mascher and SG in the middle v Lyon, one thing for certain is that Lucas will come straight back into the side for the Manc game.

All Babel has proved so far this season is that he can be good as a sub, but every time he starts (apart from against League One Leeds) he's shit. So put him on the bench, and throw him on if we get desperate.

I would seriously prefer almost anyone to him as a starter - Voronin, Wash, Riera, anyone.

I like that team. The more I thought about it the more it would make sense to play Gerrard of the striker as he's probably the safest bet to get us on the scoresheet after all.

He was feeling pain in training today, you know what rafa is like over player fitness. I would rather him miss tomorrow than united if he inflames the injury.
