Summer rebuild 2023

We absolutely need a LCB who will play in a back 3 to replace Tsimikas and compete with Robbo.

There's nothing linking us to him... I was floating the idea as it would allow us to cash in on Tsimikas whist having a player as effective if not more effective than Robertson

In the old days of Edwards.. that'd usually mean it's on!

Lol... This has to be one of the more bizarre links. He didn't even play 1000 minutes in La Liga. If any club offers more than £10m, then they're morons

Liverpool have made an offer for Franck Kessie to put Inter Milan’s attempts to sign the Barcelona midfielder in doubt, according to reports.
The Reds are looking to boost the the quality and depth of their midfield this summer after a disappointing 2022/23 season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side finished fifth in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League football next season, and failing to win a major trophy.
The Liverpool midfield took a lot of the blame for below-par performances and now Klopp is looking to improve that area of his team after allowing James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave the club on free transfers.

And now Inter Live claim that Liverpool are ‘ready to make themselves the undisputed queen of the summer transfer window’ as they look to ‘implement a real revolution’ over the next few months.
The report insists that Inter could be ‘mocked’ by the Premier League side with a swap deal for Kessie, which would see Marcelo Brozovic go to Barcelona, ‘at risk’ with Liverpool ready to ‘blitz with cash offer’.
They claim that Klopp ‘kills’ Inter with Liverpool making an offer of between €35-40m (£30m-£35m) and, with the Serie A side not willing to make up their ‘offer entirely in cash’, the Nerazzurri could lose out on Kessie.
Klopp isn’t only looking at improving the Liverpool midfield with rumours he could add a new central defender to his ranks.
And former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher reckons moving Joel Matip on to bring in a new left-sided defender would be a good idea.
“I look at the defence and I think Joel Matip now has got a year to go,” Carragher told Redmen Plus.
“If you got £10million, whatever the price may be, it’s probably right to move on. I do think we need a left-sided defender, a left-footed centre-back. A lot of teams have them, we don’t.
“A left-sided player would add something. Rather than getting a left-back because I don’t think we will, if we are going to continue with this formation now, (we should be) buying someone in that area, a centre-back who can do the full-back role. I definitely think a left-sided centre-back who can do that left-back job.”

We need 3 midfielders.

Mac Alister seems to have technically quality to become a goal-creating/scoring 8 for us.

Now we need legs, awareness and physicality to go with him and to cover for TAA's shortcomings. Hopefully Kone and Thuram would give us. For me, getting those 3 would represent the minimum required. Window would be 6.5/10.

If we want 7-8/10, we need another CB. Another RB is 9/10. Another RW/CM and we're at 10/10.

Agreed, and I reckon we get 2 more mids and a cb, so not terrible.

I read something a few months ago now where the report said Barca were willing to let Kessie go for 10m.

Yup, 2 more quick/athletic midfielders, a good young LCB and a tenacious RB and it's a successful window.

So Barcelona sign Kessie for free, he absolutely nose dives in la liga and we buy him for £35m… great idea

😀

This is why we should sign Tielemans or Rabiot for free this summer, if it don't work out then sell for the same.

For the renewing of Adrian's contract was bonkers. Not sure why Achterberg hasn't told him to leave?
The signing of Ali Mak, Kone and Thuram make it a 8. Though we could go into next season with those 3 and challenge for 4. To challage City, For me Hungerian Dom or even Kamada to challange Salah and CB who can play RB or vice verser. 5 signing in total. In order to make space sell Thiago and Matip or just deregister Adrian

Barcelona hasn’t got over the fact that we pulled its pants down and rammed our way to the premier league and champions league titles.

There's no such thing as a free transfer. You pay a shit load in extra wages and agent's fees instead. The idea of taking a chance on a player available for "free" is a false economy. If you don't know that the guy is good enough, or you know he's a sick note then you don't sign him, otherwise you end up giving him away further down the line and subsidising his wages because the only potential buyers won't pay what you're paying him (case in point, Joe Cole).

We were lucky with Milner, though. Still, as you pointed out, he came on quite high wages initially but he did prove worth all of them £££.

Exactly so fuck Barcelona and these nonsense links, i hope he bleeds them dry. I can see a wage subsidised move back to Italy though.

I think we all knew Milner was good enough. I'm sure he earned more than the going rate for a player of his profile, but he's been a great servant to the club, a solid pro and on the rare occasions when he didn't do the business for us it was never for lack of effort. Wish him all the best and really hope he comes back in some capacity when he hangs his boots up.
Gary Macallister the same, the only question with him was what he had left in the tank, and truth be told his second season wasn't up to much, but I don't believe Gerrard would have become quite the same player without Gary Mac's influence in training during his formative years.
We were unlucky with Marcus Babbel, he was outstanding before his illness.
Most of our other freebies didn't really work out that well for me. Matip's a great player on his day but across his time with us the injuries and form have been too much of an issue for me.

Raphaël Guerreiro is available on a Free, at 29 he isn't young but he is better than Tsimikas probably even Robertson. Tsimikas would fetch at a guess €30m
His Portuguese and plays in the German League, should get both German George's and Pep's approval

Better than Robertson? I'm not sure what one can say to that whilst remaining within accepted standards of etiquette.

Mac Allister £45m
Kone - £30m
Thuram - £35m
Veiga - £35m

Veiga doesn't need to be registered next season, Thiago won't be offered a new deal but will probably leave on a free in 2024.

I still want Bellingham though.

Where does Veiga fit in balance wise? Thuram Macallister Veiga seems a bit too offensive?
Not sure we will get all 4 even though I'd like us to. Supposing we did, I don't think Klopp will sign anyone else, as he would need to accommodate the likes of Hendo, Thiago, Elliott, Spanish Steve, CJ, Fabs, Matip, Gomez etc.... I can see Hendo and Fabs being used to cover the defence. I honestly think Klopp has to be ruthless and sell Matip and Thiago, and take what ever you get to make room

Not sure where Mark gets his info. Nunes would have to cost less than the amount Watford paid for him to make him a viable option

I get Keita vibes off that Viega lad.
Let us get Szobo instead. He looks ace. The 8 position is the hardest to fill and will cost more for top quality.

Viega gives me Mount vibes but way more productive.
€60m for Big Dom which I doubt we can stretch too. Fwiw and we have been linked with Kamada who has better stats than both those though he is older at 26 butp will be a free. Kamada is over 6ft tall and can play CM CAM and AM
I just want us to sign Kone and Thuram then I am easy who the 4th option is as long as its not Frank Kessie. I'd even be happy with Gallagher at £20m.

If we dont get anyone of Kone or Thuram, the I would not mind him being the other midfielder we sign. I thought he was so cool in that game againstbus, surrounded by our players, does these turns and like a race horse just goes past all our players.
