Ozil, Diarra and 20 million. But when was the last time (other than the Ibra/eto'o deal) a large scale transfer included even one other big name in the deal??
Appaz we were offered VdV as part of the Alonso deal, and we were also offered Sturridge as a makeweight in the Torres deal. Next time we get offered a player we should take it.
All the ITK crowd said he reason the Torres transfer was so late in the day/night was cos we were trying to include sturridge but Chelsea flat out refused.

doesn't look like we will be getting Higuain in return

GuillemBalague Guillem Balague
Soldado is not leaving Valencia this season! Higuain is not leaving Madrid this season either

*places bets on both occuring*

Saw this today, probably nonsense, but we've been screwed over time and again by Real in terms of the amount the pay for our players, they can fuck off.

The Enrique deal included carrol
Other than the possibility that we got first refusal on Enrique we bought them 6 months apart and for 2 separate fees. Although out of the 2 enrique is a lot closer to the £35 million valuation than big Andy ever will be 😛
Ouch, watch out this ones sharp.

Of course it wasn't serious you dimlo

There are those on here who will disagree, but I say that's (a) a good thing and (b) not unexpected.
You mean selling Suarez is a good thing? Why?

Ooops. I agree with that then. Why on earth should we sell our best player? Are we a selling club?

No we're not, and I hate the idea of Suarez being hounded out– but, the FA has given carte blanche for people to shout abuse at Luis, and not just in football grounds. The knuckle dragging general public now understand only one 'fact' about him– that he is a racist, and an unrepentant one at that. It might not get to him straight away, but sooner or later, it is going to be difficult for him and his family to put up with the abuse that is coming to them. His sentence extends well beyond the 8 match suspension, but will affect his everyday life in England, and that of his family.

I had no respect for the bellyaching of Masher, but in the case of Suarez, I really could see why he'd rather not live his life playing the pantomime villain.

completely agree
its sad really

Well, I don't agree it's that clear-cut at all. For one thing the family presumably reside in an area where support for them will be strong. For another, that support certainly will be strong from those Luis himself works with. Last but not least, the mouthbreathers' memories can be as limited as their willingness or ability to think for themselves. Nor do I think you've given enough weight to Luis' very clear statement of intent, which he'll have made in full knowledge of what's likely to occur initially when he returns to action. Let's wait and see before we lose hope, eh?

And this is another good reason for the club to back him and fight for him.

Luis Suarez has set his sights on finishing a turbulent season on a high by helping Liverpool lift a trophy and secure a top-four finish.

The striker wants to repay the support of manager Kenny Dalglish and his team-mates after he was handed a eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Still smiling: Banned striker Luis Suarez

Suarez, who will have to sit out both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester City, told Goal.com: 'I want to win a trophy for Liverpool.

'When I came here the team hadn’t been doing so well but we are a much better squad now and we are capable of winning a trophy and getting back into the Champions League.
'Last year I was lucky enough to win the Copa America with my country, something which I never thought I would do and we made history. Now I want to win something with Liverpool. When I’m back in the side that is the aim and would be the perfect 2012 for me.'

Reports in Spain have suggested Real Madrid are ready to take advantage of the turmoil surrounding Suarez by making a £30m bid.

But the Uruguayan, who has admitted being 'extremely upset' over his FA ban, pledged his commitment to the Reds.
He said: 'I was so excited to sign for Liverpool, it was a dream come true and I hope for a long career with them. I grew up watching them and they are a club with such a big history, especially in the Champions League, and fantastic players.'
Suarez also praised team-mate Steven Gerrard, who has recently returned to action following an ankle infection.

'Steven is a great player, I didn’t realise how good until I came here,' he said. 'He trains how he plays and is a fantastic player and servant for this club. Having him back will help the team.
