Suarez to Barca transfer

Well, we can now say that we lied about the transfer fee, Barcelona didn't.

The answer to your question IMO is that Ayre did the negotiations and that we had agreed to sell him if he stayed another season. We could't demand a lot of things thanks to that.

Is the document real though? Havent read it yet btw

WATSON: Is that really a ghostly butler with a limp, Holmes??

HOLMES: It could be a fiendishly clever, if somewhat rudimentary, optical illusion, caused by a lantern, a pair of pince-nez, an antique figurine of Charles II and a kitten's whisker. Haven't thought it through btw.

Its was reported in the English media that the fee was 75 mill. As in his release clause.
Weird to lie about 10 mill from our side.

Funny btw

PR.
Imagine what we the fans would have said if we had sold our best ever player for £64.98m.

It would have broken my heart but given that we signed our best ever player for £440,000 it would have been a hell of a return on our investment.

King Kenny was a great fantastic player but Suarez did things no player ever done in the highest English league. He dominated game after game. He scored so many fantastic goals that in the end we took it for granted that he would score a magical goal in almost every game.

This is one of those show me your medals moments.

Must be the first time Barca have been honest about a transfer fee. Probably because they got him for 10 mill less then the release clause.

The Chellini bite cost us 10 mill iow.

Benteke was a terrible buy and I'm loathed to get into that argument again, but it's a strange situation to put yourselves in as a club. On the one hand you want a player as talented as Sanchez as part of the deal, which would have been the ultimate way to cushion on the blow of losing Suarez. So why was the alternative, to be installments of £13m? Meaning there was presumably no way we were in a position to go out and spend £60m or whatever on a hugely talented replacement.

£13m in installments like that puts a different slant on what the club are spending per transfer window, because we'd basically given ourselves a £13m additional income per transfer window, upto and including this Summer, from the sale of Suarez.

Maybe I'm taking it too literally and talking in too simplistic terms about the deal, I don't know.

I'n guessing our hand was forced with the ban and biting incident at the WC. But yeah, it doesnt set us in the most positive light.

Yes, for all that Suarez was one of the finest, most gifted players to ever play for Liverpool and 'did things no other player ever done on the highest English league', I still think six League titles, four League cups, an FA cup and three European Cups puts Kenny Dalglish slightly higher.
On talent alone it's a close call.
On success, longitivity and overall effect on the club it isn't even a discussion.
Ffs if you are going to compare medals Peggy porn star beats Suarez

I would say that Suarez is the best talent and best player that ever played in the highest English league. He is also a fantastic leader and just as King Kenny did makes other players much better.

When we signed Suarez we needed a leader and a high energy player. We needed a player you could build a team around. I doubt that we could have signed another player in the world that was better suited for us than Suarez. Not even Messi.

Suarez will always demand more than 100% from his team mates. 100% isn't enough because it isn't enough for him. King Kenny was the same.

Both men was so important for us that you can't replace them on and off the pitch.

I have watched football a long time and IMO Suarez is the most complete player I have ever seen play. That includes players like King Kenny and all the fantastic players we had then, Maradona, Messi and so on.

If the only player we would sign this summer is Suarez then we would have a fantastic chance to win the league. He is the best player in the world and would make our players much better. We wouldn't need a new left back, defensive midfielder etc because of the impact Suarez would have on the squad.

A Klopp Suarez combination is the dream combination. The players would run and run and then run a bit more.

There's the dangerous territory of squads as well. Dalglish played for a MUCH better Liverpool side

Using team achievements to praise a single player is always odd

Yeah but it helps to add perspective.
