Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I'd rather be able to wipe the floor with teams like Fulham because we have Suarez.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

The Ajax forums are saying good bye to Suarez, and they're resident ITK who they seem to respect a lot, says a deal is done either today or tomorrow.

I'm guessing since we're not giving out any information at all, any info that is picked up might come from the Dutch side. Anyhoo, hope this happens.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Supposedly being interviewed before tonight's game

De Boer on Suarez

"de wedstrijd is nu het belangrijkste, wat er morgen gebeurd zien we dan wel weer."

"This competition for now is the most important, what happens tomorrow, we'll see."

They've just shown video message of Steve McClaren from Wolfsburg with, you've guessed it, German accent! #AlloAllo

Hahaha. This cheered me up though

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I'd say we're still in negotiations, we'd have moved on to other targets had we not been.

The fact that our side is not giving anything away is causing journalists to flap and basically make things up, I think.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Gregory van der Wiel 'could leave Ajax if Luis Suarez Liverpool transfer fails'

Luis Suarez’s January transfer negotiations have created a storm at Ajax with a back-up plan now being considered in which team-mate Gregory van der Wiel would be offloaded to either Manchester United or Chelsea if Suarez’s Liverpool deal falls through.

..The Amsterdam giants are understood to be having minor financial difficulties and need to sell at least one player during the current transfer window.

Van der Wiel has been tracked by a number of clubs including Spanish giants Barcelona, but a preferred move to the Premier League continues to grow in popularity.

The 22-year-old Dutch international’s agent Hakin Slimani has said that all offers and options were being considered, but that everything hinged on the Suarez deal.

‘Anything can happen at the moment.’ Slimani said.

‘I think if one of the clubs want him, he would have to think about it. The main thing is that Ajax will have to make a decision about that.

‘But at the moment nothing is concrete, there is no offer on the table. He still has a contract for five years, so it all depends on Ajax and whether they are willing to let him go, and whether Luis Suarez joins Liverpool.’

The Reds have been given until Saturday to decide whether they wish to buy Suarez for Ajax’s asking price of £21million after initially offering £12.8million for the Uruguayan striker.

Any possible move for Van der Wiel by either United or Chelsea would cost the clubs around £8.8million and Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti could use the Dutchman as an option if the David Luiz deal from Benfica falls through.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Can anyone dig out the Torres thread from summer 2007 and see how long that took? You've probably deleted it, but is it just me or do we now drag every transfer out for weeks? Barry & Suarez are just two which spring to mind, or is it just that we are so desperate for decent players that we talk about them incessently for 100+ pages?

I'm sure Torres was quite sudden, but I just long for the transfers of the 80's (anyone remember the return of Rush? My dad brought the paper home from his post round, smiled and showed me the back page - no mention of it, he was back just like that).

Maybe it's the media saturation - makes things exciting but you just wanna yell GET THE FUCK MOVING AND SIGN HIM!!

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Latest update from Hollands biggest football magazine;

Liverpool and Ajax have renegotiated Luis Suarez. The parties were again not reach an agreement.

After the negotiations earlier this week at the asking price of Uruguayan piece ran, a delegation from Liverpool Thursday again sought closer to the Amsterdam club in an attempt to loosen the star player.

The difference between supply and demand remains a stumbling block. Liverpool offered an initial sum of around fifteen million euros. Ajax would retain approximately thirty million euros to collect. The transfer market closes on Monday, January 31

Supply and demand....

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Sounds close though, 'thirty' and 'thirteen'. It's like Chinese whispers...

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Ajax are (rightly unfortunately) holding out for a big pay day for their biggest asset ... We should offer the 'best' we can do, and if this 15 is the 'best', then as Oncy says, MOVE ON.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Yep, move on but glad we're standing our ground. Every club around Europe thinks every PL club has money like City and Chelsea and we haven't.

Plus he's not worth that money.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Aaaaaargghh. This is what happens when you get excited about a transfer.

FUCK!!

*Poures a laproiagh and cries a bit*

However the fact that both sides are STILL in negotiations makes me think it's a lot closer than the press would have us think. Suarez doing his bit too - I think we'll close this on the last day of the transfer window.

I don't think he's speaking with any accent.

Truth be told, for a foreigner it's quite hard to understand what you English say especially, when you speak among yourselves.
I remember the first time I went to England, London to be specific, I had a nightmare trying to understand you. English spoken on the streets was so different from the textbook English I read in school.
The first real interaction I had was with a Jamaican in the Victoria Station, I was asking him for directions and I couldn't understand a word he said. I just nodded my head and went in the direction he pointed to.

Anyway my point is, what might sound as accent to you is actually McClaren simplifying his English to make himself understood by the foreign press.

Doesn't really give Ajax time to replace Suarez though does it?

They were supposedly negotiating with Yildrim today. Could be bollocks of course.
