Probably bullshit but here goes:

"Reports from Holland suggest Ajax are keen to have Dirk Kuyt included in any deal with Liverpool for Luis Suarez."

Source: some shitty site.

Anyway, would it be worth letting go of Kuyt?

Considering his age I'd go for it.
Considering his *touch*, I'd go for it. Doubt whether Dirk would though.
Touché.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Unfortunately, as much as i don't think dirk is good enough to start for us, he is good enough for the bench where we're criminally shit now Babels gone. I'd much rather keep dirk and have him displaced by suarez than let dirk go as part fo the deal

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Depends on the size of any offer (which is probably BS)

The bench may be shit, but there are possibly options like Maxi,Cole and Jova to consider.

I'm still hoping Cole comes good though.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Apparently Ajax bought Suarez from Groningen for €7.5 million.
And we're offering double that amount. They're asking for triple that amount.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Come on gang what's going on - were nearly back on topic; what happened to the crabstick analysis ffs?!?

Deffo one for the Vault - Oncy and Sunny playing blinders!

Think I'd prefer Benzema to Suarez, but at this stage I'd take Kevin frickin Doyle.

Kuyt is better than all of them though Avvy. I'd rather see Jova and Maxi go first, they're both knocking on a bit too and are probably on big wages, and they came for free too, so..

Arsenal got about 40 times the amount they paid for Anelka or something etc..

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Up to 12m & Kuyt and I'd go for it... just

I'd prefer to keep Kuyt, but I'd prefer to have Suarez more.

Kuts has to be valued at 10m or more.

Yeah but they bought him for about 500k.

To be frank, Kuyt is on really big money and the performance in this season and a better part of last season does not justify that kind of wage to be paid out.
Kuyt scored the pen in the derby and had the initial shot that rebounded for Raul's goal. He also had two assists at the weekend. Long live the Dirk.

Anelka was one of the most highly rated and sought after strikers in Europe at the time though.

Two assists?

How do you assist a penalty?

Assist is given to a player who is fouled for penalty. But we didn't get a penalty against Wolves so I don't know what you are getting at?

Kuyt knocked it down for Raul's screamer didn't he? And he was the last one to touch it before Torres' second although it was probably Wolves defender that got the assist there.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I fail to see the relevance of what people paid for any of the targets we are after.
Not a great Dirk fan, but I don't agree it would be a good idea to thin the squad, it needs building. The litmus test of our progress will be when Dirk and Lucas are warming the bench.
Regards

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I think the assist for Raul's goal was from a Wolves defender

The point remains that what they paid for him is largely irrelevant. There's no rule that says you can't sell a player for more than twice you bought him for. In the current market, I'd say he probably is worth triple what they paid for him.

I was sure Dirk got the knock down to Raul.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

if kuyt is needed to make it happen (I doubt it would happen as why would kuyt want to leave) then I would do it and plan for the future, a future that involves ACTUAL wide players rather than converted strikers.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Yeah but what will happen if we see Suarez playing out wide of Torres??

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Letting Kuyt be part of the deal is a very bad idea, he is a good player and obviously a good professional and senior squad member..... nah... he is exactly the sort of player we need to keep hold of.

I would rather we wait till summer and buy somebody else tbh.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Kuyt has his flaws but we don't half miss him when he isn't there. The risk of pissing him off by even suggesting he could be a make weight just isn't worth it.

And Vlad is right. The day he and Lucas are having to bust a gut in training just to make the bench will be a happy one.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

No. The Dirkilizer stays !

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

"If you compare the 15m euros [£12.7m] Liverpool want to pay for Suarez with other transfers you can imagine that it's far too low for us," the Ajax spokesman added.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I think it's reasonable to offer something approaching 20M for this lad and have done with it.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

suazrez is well worth 20 mil beast of a player

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Agreed.

It's another big money gamble; but Suarez IS a good player.

Hopefully it's another Torres and not a Keane.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

it is incredible, what we've offered, if true.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Yep, £12 mil is way low. £20 million does sound in the ball park. Offer 18 I say

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

We haven't offered 12 mill. Comolli wouldn't be in Amsterdam if we had.
