Unfair on Reina
[/quote]Na. He's been a shadow of himself for lots of this year.
He seems to be getting back to his best now though. Likewise Torres.

The bit that astounds me is that some club out there are prepared to pay 8M for Babel. Obviously I'm not complaining like.

But 8M buys you Van Der Vaart for fucks sake.

One born every minute....

That said, I can say Ryan being utilised in a different position and played more regularly and I think there is a chance he will develop into a decent player. He won't reach the heights people thought he would when he was younger but he'll come good to an extent. For that reason I do hope we ship him off to Holland or Germania.

VDV plays in an attacking team, I very much doubt he'd be anywhere near as effective for us if he'd come here rather than spurs.

Yes, that's the difference between VDV and Babel - the teams they play in.

So what Neil? That is not point being made here.
Ryan can correct me if I'm wrong but he is pointing out they cost the same.

you can bring babel in the equation if you want but if you think its easier to be an attacking forward in the spurs team than the liverpool team I'll leave you to it. VDV would struggle here because he would have the likes of kuyt, maxi and lucas feeding him rather than the likes of modric, bale and lennon. no difference there I'm sure.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Babel has been utter fucking shit for Liverpool, Neil. Chance after chance wasted by him.
He can have no complaints.

Get over it.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

for the record unlike KHL (with poulsen) I'm not saying babel is anything other than shit but people seem awful eager to get rid of a sub when our FIRST TEAM is all over the fucking place. we sell babel and then what? whatever.

We need to sell to bring in cash to help rectify the squad holes you continually speak of.
What other £8 million assets have we sitting around the place man?

that's what I mean, it's a real concern. our sqaud is filled front to back with aging nobodies who are on massive wages who will be difficult to move on. 8 million is a piss in the ocean.
even if I didn't like babel I wouldn't be that bothered about moving him on, not with the state the squad is in. it's put a plaster on a shark bite.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I'd rather we had Kuyt on the bench than Babel.

So we take the 8 million add some more from the transfer fund, get a first teamer and then bench Kuyt who is a regular starter now....

Radio in holland says Suaraz to Liverpool is a done deal.

If it's true, hopefully there will be some movement on this transfer soon..

I'm dead excited about this.

Edit: If he doesn't come, I'm going to leave 'Fuck you' msgs in the inboxes of those who said he is.

Well if it's Suarez, the idea is we sell a sub and buy a first teamer. Don't know about anyone else, but that sounds pretty logical to me, and a step in the right direction.

"Eager to get rid of a sub when our first team is all over the place"? If our first team is all over the place, you should probably remember the state of our subs bench, at least by getting rid of a sub and buying a first teamer, you're demoting a current first teamer to the bench. That's improvement all round.

And regardless of you posting a token "oh I know he's shit". Everyone knows you rate him Neil, at least admit that that's why you're miffed.

Yeah, Neils argument is more than a little confused.

Working on the general basis that those in the first team are better than those not in the first team, a transfer policy of "8million is a piss in the ocean, so why sell reserves, lets sell first team players first, for less than 8m, then were getting shot of our less shit players before our really shit players" is genius.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I'm gutted babel hasn't made more of his lfc career.

You can't place all of the blame at his door though, rafa stunted his growth to say the least. Still he hasn't helped himself.

Ship him on for whatever and promote and youngun. Although I'd apply that logic to far too many members of the first team..

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I love this tread. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Neil is a rafa apologist, so it makes perfect sense to him we should sell a first teamer instead and buy someone good enough for the bench

I don't think £8m is a "piss in the ocean". And like it or not, Babel is one of our more sellable assets, and also one that isn't really being used.

We all know there are players that should be moved out before Babel, but nobody is going to pay us that sort of money (not to mention wages) for cunts like Koncesky, Lucas, Poulsen, Maxi or Eggnog. Even Agger wouldn't get anywhere near £8m.

Babel's still young, and clubs are interested in him. If we manage to get Suaraz in, I don't think anyone will be complaining too much.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I think we should get Elia in as Babels replacement and Suarez in regardless.

Well, yeah. One player isn't going to fix things. But I'd still like an attacker AND a CM player.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Agreed. Everyone seems like to be humping M'Vila's leg... so perhaps he'd be a good bet. I've never seen him play.

M'Vila seems to be good by all accounts and I'd be excited if we signed him but I think I'd rather take Lass Diarra as he's more of a known quantity. Anyways it's vital we get someone good there. I'd also like to see a CB brought in.

CM is a concern, but I think CB is a more pressing issue, we're shipping goals for fun. I know both positions are probably responsible, but anyway, we need a good centre back.

M'Vila looks class to me, but he is only 20/21 so it might be a bit much to expect him to anchor a team in total chaos on his own. That's one position where a bit of experience might not be a bad idea. Although not Poulsen-style experience obviously.
