Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

We so desperately need a DM, it's not even funny. I've never seen M'vila either, but I agree that having someone so young to come in and anchor the midfield is a big gamble.

Lassana Diarra is the obvious choice and we should be pulling out all the stops to get him.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I've now heard this from a source I actually listen to. Firm offer has gone in, and LFC confident it will be accepted.

Ooooh! A new player! Who isn't shit! And costs LOTS OF MONEY!

I'd be very happy if this comes off.

I'm still choosing to be pessimistic.

I'll wait for the news to be published on LFC.TV

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

He's same age as me (23) too, I thought he was closer to 30. I'm even more excited now I know he's got his best to come.

Suarez and M'Villa would be much better a window than we could have ever hoped for right?

Agreed. Everyone seems like to be humping M'Vila's leg... so perhaps he'd be a good bet. I've never seen him play.
M'Vila seems to be good by all accounts and I'd be excited if we signed him but I think I'd rather take Lass Diarra as he's more of a known quantity. Anyways it's vital we get someone good there. I'd also like to see a CB brought in.
CM is a concern, but I think CB is a more pressing issue, we're shipping goals for fun. I know both positions are probably responsible, but anyway, we need a good centre back.
I can't decide witch is a more pressing issue but I feel DM is easier to improve on immediately. In CB you need to get the partnership to work etc so the settling in period can be a bit tougher. But yeah, ultimately we need both.

If Agger is fit for next game I'd play him and Soto. Skrtel has been so shit I hope he never plays for us again. I really really dislike him.

Thing is, this guy calls lots of things early, but he ALWAYS ALWAYS gets a bit of it wrong.

Kenny in charge for the United game. Thommo as assistant.
Hodgson replacing Benitez, who is going to Juve. And one or both Torres and Gerrard leaving.

Which is why I'm keeping the champagne on ice.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I'd gor for Marseilles M'Bia as he can cover both positions. Big, strong lad with tons of power and grit. Not a bad footballer either from what I've seen.

You haven't thought that one through, have you? He gets bits right, and bits wrong. The above would be a terrible gamble.

Rumours are rumours. Some come off, most don't in my experience. Always good to get a little bit of hope up, if nothing else.

for the record unlike KHL (with poulsen) I'm not saying babel is anything other than shit but people seem awful eager to get rid of a sub when our FIRST TEAM is all over the fucking place. we sell babel and then what? whatever.
Well if it's Suarez, the idea is we sell a sub and buy a first teamer. Don't know about anyone else, but that sounds pretty logical to me, and a step in the right direction.

"Eager to get rid of a sub when our first team is all over the place"? If our first team is all over the place, you should probably remember the state of our subs bench, at least by getting rid of a sub and buying a first teamer, you're demoting a current first teamer to the bench. That's improvement all round.

And regardless of you posting a token "oh I know he's shit". Everyone knows you rate him Neil, at least admit that that's why you're miffed.
I 'like' babel, I don't 'rate' babel, there are precious few players in the entire liverpool squad I 'rate'. I think we have a disportionate number of absolute fucking CLOGGERS who don't know have to pass competently let alone play fucking football. I just like babel because I think he is a fun character but as a player he is pretty clueless but he isn't in the first team so 'meh'.

I actually think 3 quarters of the squad could be sold and I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

According to reports in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Liverpool have made an official offer to sign Ajax striker Luis Suarez.

My blackberry is braced for another SCM email jig.

Get on it mods.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Some twitter thoughts on Suarez from scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen:

orginially a wide forward/2nd striker at nacional (uru), groningen (ned) + first couple of seasons at ajax. eventually playing more central

ideal position probably as a 2nd striker (dependent on movement, exploiting space) next to a less mobile partner in a front 2

yet very comfortable as wide forward (right or left) in a front 3, i.e. offers many options. personally i don't see him as a lone striker

main strengths: dribling 1v1, acceleration, shooting/finishing technique, positional sense, right footed but nearly as natural w/left

previously tagged as "selfish" (less so now), dependent on 1v1 situations to be max effective (hence perfectly matched to dutch football)

slight concern: currently going through his driest spell in years - only 1 goal from last 10 competitive club matches...

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Dry spell could be down to wanting to leave though. And he hasn't played since November in the league due to the ban either.

He still has 13 in 23 this season..

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

According to the good doctor, the fee was agreed with Ajax last week and we were discussing terms with Suarez since.

As of this morning, personal terms have been agreed and we are now just doing the formal paperwork and setting up a medical.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Nah itd have been announced by now if we were just waiting for a medical.

Most interesting bit of business since Torres actually.
